This was my fourth and fifth week of using the Kroger Boost program (it was $39 for the entire year with the deal they ran in January + I’ll get double fuel points all year — which will totally pay for itself and then some!)
As I mentioned recently, I can’t believe the savings we’ve already seen on our gas from having the Double Fuel Points! If you missed it, I shared more about the Kroger Boost program right here.
I didn’t get a chance to share our groceries two weeks ago, so here are the last two grocery deliveries:
This week’s grocery delivery
They ended up over-charging me for the strawberries and they didn’t look good, so I requested a refund for those as I wouldn’t have bought them if I had known they would end up looking like they did. It’s super easy to request a refund on the app and they issued it almost immediately!
So my total with tax after the refund was around $99 for all the groceries shown above!
I’ve been working on perfecting a non-sourdough Overnight No Knead Artisan Bread. Look for the recipe soon! It’s SO good!
I also made homemade tortillas this past week. They were AMAZING! I now understand why so many of you choose to make our tortillas homemade!
And I did a second ferment on my Kombucha and made four different flavors. I was so happy with how it turned out, but my family likes the water kefir much better and it’s so easy that I will probably just stick with that.
Last week’s grocery delivery
My total for all these groceries was $167 with tax. So I’m under budget this month. I’ll likely put in a small grocery order on Thursday to use up the remaining amount to carry us over until next week because Jesse, Silas, and Kaitlynn will all be out of town on school trips, so we will be consuming a lot less food here while they are gone! 🙂
Kathleen says
Is it safe to leave dough unrefrigerated overnight?
Crystal Paine says
Yes, that’s part of the process of fermentation for doughs like sourdough.
Gwen says
I didn’t see any meat. Do you buy that separately?
Crystal Paine says
I didn’t buy much meat this time because I’m really stocked up from previous weeks’ sales on chicken and sausage. I try to stock up with enough to last for a few weeks anytime there’s a good sale!
Mae says
Have you ever tried the raw refrigerated tortillas? We love the tortillaland ones. You cook them when you want to eat them, so they taste like homemade but with a fraction of the effort!
Crystal Paine says
I haven’t, but someone just suggested them the other day!
Katie says
Do you buy lunch meat? What do your kids pack for lunch? What do they snack on when they come home from school?
Crystal Paine says
I buy it when it goes on a great sale! Right now, we just have one child regularly packing a lunch (Kierstyn) as David only has a snack at school and Kaitlynn and Silas usually have lunch at school most days. Kierstyn often has noodles or a sandwich, cheese, crackers, fruit, popcorn, energy bites, etc. It just depends upon what we have on hand.
Snacks are things like: smoothies, energy bites, pancakes, cereal, yogurt, muffins, sourdough bread, eggs, etc. and anything snack-like I may have gotten on a great sale!

I have a similar question to Mackenzie. I noticed the Dave’s Killer Bread have coupons on them. Do you feel like you are paying more shopping this way?
Crystal Paine says
The peelie coupons were for the Dave’s bars… not the bread, so I didn’t miss out on any savings. I have been doing grocery pickup/delivery for months and have been so happy that between the delivery-only/pick-up-only coupons I’ve been getting great deals and not really spending much more than I’d spend in-store (and some weeks — like when there is a $25/$150 coupon — it’s less than I’d spend in store!) Plus, for the time it saves, it’s been so worth it right now!
Mackenzie Foust says
Hi Crystal,
Did you use any e-coupons or paper coupons, Ibotta or other rebates?
Do you feel like you missed out on the deep discounts you get from in store clearance and markdowns?
Thank you!!!!
Crystal Paine says
I used lots and lots of e-coupons! Most of the deals I get each week are with the Kroger digital coupons. Right now, I’m not doing other rebates as I was finding that I was rarely buying anything that qualified. I have been doing grocery pickup/delivery for months and have been so happy that between the delivery-only/pick-up-only coupons I’ve been getting great deals and not really spending much more than I’d spend in-store (and some weeks — like when there is a $25/$150 coupon — it’s less than I’d spend in store!)
