  • Steph says:

I want to sign up for freebies, but am leary of giving out all of my information to all these companies, like my birthday, full name, etc. Any tips on protecting your identity and still getting the great freebies?

    • shawn'l says:

I use my initials (first and middle) then my full last name. And have never had a problem in the last 2 years of them not accepting that. Also, I have not had any “junk” mail either (though I am opted out of all credit card mailings). Junk email is another story and that is why you set up a “junkmail” account just for sigining up for these kinds of things.

    • CJ says:

Most sites just want to make sure you’re over 18 or if you fit a certain customer profile, so they dont really need your real birthdate. I made up an “internet birthday” that I use on any site that asks for such info. I also just use my intials, and I use a throw away email addy if its a company I dont want to give my main addy to.

The only freebie I’ve received recently was the Keebler Fudge Stick, yummy! I’ve gotten more selective of which offers I request so I dont get as many freebies as I used to.
