In the past year, I’ve received numerous emails from women begging me for my “secrets” to time management. They ask me to please share how I manage to seemingly “do it all”.
Every time I get an email like that, I wish I could invite the woman to my home. Because seriously, I think it’s easy to make bloggers out to be someone they are not when you’re basing all your conclusions of them upon the little sliver of their life that they share on their blog.
I know, because I’ve been guilty of it myself. I’ll read a woman’s blog, see the pictures and ideas she shares and begin to wonder if really and truly she might be superwoman’s clone. And I feel badly because I don’t measure up in any stretch of the imagination to this blogger. When in reality, I know good and well that every single woman has their strengths and weaknesses and no one has it all together.

Ty for sharing these wonderful tips!
Thank you for this information. I am a small business owner (MLM) and crafter and find that time management is key to taking care of my family and my hobby business. I’ll be sharing your info with my blog readers – I know they’ll find it useful, too!
Thank you so much for writing and sharing this fabulous book! I have read nearly every time management book on the market and yours is far and away the most concise, easily implemented way of thinking about time.
Thank you so much; you are so kind!
Wow!! Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. I am so excited to start reading it. I need this, since quitting my job to stay home with my kiddoes. I thought time management would come easily, but it didn’t. Thanks again!
Thanks a bunch! Time management is my worst skill. I know this had to take time for you to do. I really appreciate it.
Anytime someone says some lady has it all , I have always said it is a big lie and normally if you as the lady herself she will tell you no she does not! The greatest answer I will give as a woman of yesteryear featured many times in magazines etc. as having it all and doing it all! We woman are actually the greatest delegators. Delgate , Delgate, Delgate!
A child as young as 18 mo can be a helper (choose wisely what you ask them to help with! ) When mine were young I would pull into our home and the way the garage was they could help haul groceries into the house even as young as 18mo. So guess what the little ones brought in the tp and the paper towels and stuff and it would take them the entire time I was unloading to manage it because they were so small but they were determined that they could help and do something that was helping.
Isn’t this what real life is about ! Why not teach it early on and if you pick the job wisely they are not running off and making another mess for you to clean up but actually getting something accomplished. Just down size the jobs to make them supper small. Tear apart a grocery bag(in my time they were paper) put the tp in one roll size for them to haul into the home and let them take it all the way to the bathroom then they have to go get another and another if they do this 24 times it takes them a good long while. Likewise they can do paper towels as well let them stack them in the room you want them on the floor like the laundry room or wherever you store paper towels then all you have to do is place them on the shelf they belong on. Think hard everyday what can little kids do. Laundry’s done they can fold cloth napkins and place in a basket for use later. Cleaning to do they can clean baseboards they are already down there ! Dishes to do give them the plastics !
UI’m thrilled about this! My nook lets me download pdf’s so now I can take it with me!!!
Thanks for sharing. Very nice job! I am impressed with all that you get done.
Thanks, Crystal! I’d been saving the posts to a Word document on my computer, but it’s wonderful for you to put it all together in one neat package for us. Much appreciated!
Thank you so much for this! I need the reminders! I get “sucked” into the computer way to easy, it’s my escape. If it’s not the computer, than it’s the TV! I will have to say that I am extremely happy, because of you, Amy, Dave, FLY Lady, and my children, I now have my home almost organized the way I want it! Now I am hoping it will be much easier to stay on top of my housekeeping. I’m not a minimalist, wish I was, I’m very sentimental and like to hang onto stuff, but as you mentioned, the stuff takes up a lot of time and I’m learning to let it go in the name of sanity & relief! Thanks so much!
Thanks so much! Time management is one area that I can definitely use improvement. 🙂
Thanks! I cannot wait to read it tonight! 🙂
Beautifully written, Crystal.
Thanks so much Crystal. I really enjoyed your time series and have implemented some of your ideas. I have one quick question for you or your readers. We live in a small apartment and it seems like whenever I try to get up early my toddler wakes up at the same time which discourages me from keeping up that schedule as I can get little done with her on my lap. I hesitate from putting her down to bed later than 7:00 because I usually work from home from about 7:30 to 10:00 PM. Does anyone else struggle with getting up early because you have children who will get up at the same hour? Any ideas?
If nighttime is more productive for you, than I’d say stick with it. Unless you can find somewhere to sneak and hide out in the mornings until your toddler wakes up. 🙂
Chelsea I can definitely relate. My 3-year-old I swear has supersonic hearing. No matter how quietly I try to sneak out of bed he seems to hear me. I also work in the evening after my boys are in bed and I have found either I stay up a little later to do some things I want to get done or I do it during nap time. Some days when he is being cooperative I can actually get him set up beside me “helping” while I get certain chores done or paperwork/computer time. He feels like a big boy helping mom, and I feel a little less like a neglectful mother.
Thanks for your replies and suggestions. It’s nice to know that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution for these type of things. I’ve been trying to get up between 6:00 and 6:30, but I think I have to realize that at this point in my life before 6:00 is not an option unless I figure something else out.
Oh, my goodness, thank you SO much! I so need help in this area, and you are such a blessing to offer it free! Thank you!!
Thanks so much, Crystal (and Amy!) Looking forward to reading your time-tested ideas!
Thank you Crystal!
