Looking for an honest Kiss Impress Nails review? I recently tried the Impress Press On Nails and was surprised by how much I loved them!
My Discovery of Kiss imPRESS Nails
I love getting my nails done. For a few years, it’s been one of the splurges that we budget for. I get dip polish on them and it lasts 4-5 weeks.
But, getting them done means finding the time to go to the salon and sit there and have them do my nails. Some weeks, it’s hard to carve out the time for that.
Recently, it had been five weeks since I had gotten my nails done and I really needed to get them re-done. They were very grown out and the dip polish was starting to come off.
However, we had a lot going on that week and I just couldn’t seem to find an hour to leave two little ones at home. It was then that I remembered my sister talking about how much she loves the Impress Nails.
She used to use dip polish on her nails and had told me she’d converted over to the Impress Nails and had become a real fan.
So, Jesse had to head out for an errand and I asked him if he’d swing by Target to pick up a box of the Impress Nails for me to try out.
What are Kiss imPRESS Nails?
Impress Nails are salon-looking press-on nails that you can apply yourself in just a few minutes. You just peel off the backing of the nail to expose the glue and then press it on your nail and push it down over the surface of the nail for 20-30 seconds.
How much do imPRESS Nails cost?
The box of Impress Nails we got was $7 + tax at Target. Amazon has them for $6.99/box. This includes 30 nails — enough for 3 full applications. I’ve heard that you can find them for less at TJMaxx, but I haven’t checked there.
How long do imPRESS Nails last?
I asked on Instagram, and the majority of people said they usually last up to 10 days for them. There were a few people who said they only lasted a few days. But most people said that if you rough up your nails a little (this helps the glue on the back of the press-on nail adhere well) and don’t get them wet for a few hours after putting them on, that they will last for 10-14 days.
A few of mine fell off during the 10 days I wore them, but I found it was really simple to either put on a replacement nail or glue the nail back on with nail glue.
How to apply imPRESS Press On Nails
The Impress Nails are very easy to apply! Here’s what to do:
- Make sure nails are clean and dry.
- Use the little wipe and the nail file they include in the box to wipe down your nails and rough them up a little bit.
- Open the box and peel off the backing of nail and press it on to your natural nail.
- Repeat for all nails. That’s it!
A few bonus tips:
- Kaitlynn and I applied them together and we found it worked best to hold the nail down and press around all over it for around 30 seconds.
- Don’t get them wet for a few hours. This gives the glue time to dry. (Try putting them on before bed so that the glue has time to fully dry all night.)
If you follow these tips, you’ll hopefully be able to get a good 10-14 days out of them!
How to remove imPRESS Nails
I was wondering if it would be hard to take them off, but it wasn’t! Here’s how you remove them:
- At the end of 10 days, just pull on each nail slightly.
- They should easily come off.
- If not, you can soak them off. (But mine were starting to come off some at the end of 10 days, so it was really easy.)
Pros to imPRESS Press On Nails
- They look great! Since I usually have my nails done, it wasn’t this weird shift to having really amazing looking nails. I don’t think that they look really fake.
- They are very easy to put on. You can literally apply them in the car on the way to an event (well, so long as you aren’t the one driving!) It took me about five minutes to apply them.
- They are very inexpensive for what you get. A box of Impress Nails has 30 nails in it — enough for three full applications (if you don’t need to replace any during the 10-14 day application period). And it’s only $7 at Target!! That’s $7 for what could last you (pretty easily) for close to a month! That’s much less expensive than going to a salon!
Kiss imPRESS Nails: Cons
- They aren’t as thick/strong as dip polish. I found that they were a little flimsier and took a few days to get used to. If you have longer nails, you shouldn’t have this problem.
- They only stay on for a maximum of 10-14 days. Unlike dip polish, even though I followed all of the suggestions from people online on how to apply them, mine only lasted for 10 days. In that time period, a few of them did fall off and I just glued them back on with nail glue.
- There aren’t as many color options in-store. There were only around 8 different color options in-store at Target. Amazon does have a LOT more color options. But if you want to get something in-store that day, you are just going to have to go with what they have.
- They are a little hard to shape. While I was pretty happy with how they were shaped, I wanted to file down a few of the nails and I found that it wasn’t super easy to do (maybe there’s a trick I just wasn’t thinking of?)
All in all, I was happy with the Impress Nails and would definitely use them again — especially if I wanted to have nice-looking nails for an event or occasion and didn’t have time to get them done. Plus, they were an inexpensive alternative to getting salon-looking nails!
imPRESS Nails FAQ
You can buy them in-stores or online, and they’re available at most major retailers like Amazon, Target, Walmart, and drug stores. Some people also have luck finding them for cheaper at TJMaxx.
No, that’s one of the best parts! They don’t damage your nails the way gel or dip can. It’s a great alternative if you don’t want to damage your natural nail.
Yes, absolutely! They won’t last as long as salon nails for a lot of people, but they’re great quality — especially for the price!
While glue is not necessary for imPRESS nails, some people do add a tiny dot of glue to make them last even longer! So it might be worth a try.

Question- how hard are these on nail beds?
Crystal Paine says
I didn’t have any trouble with it impacting my nail beds.

I just started using them and I am hooked! I can get a few manicures out of a box and sometimes i mix and match boxes so it stretches it even further. I find they clip easily with standard nail clippers and i have a heavy duty nail file that shapes them. They last almost 2 weeks for me if I size them accurately in the beginning. I made the mistake of sizing up on a nail and that one kept coming off because it was too big for that nail. I have a friend who orders directly from the website where they have the most options for colors and prints, and she said they always send her deals and freebies. So I am going to try that next.

I have owned and operated my own nail salon since 1992!!!! A friend whom I taught to do nails and no longer provides nails services told me about these. I am sick of doing my own nails and never have time to get them done. I decided to try these and I LOVE THEM. They lasted 2 weeks with me replacing 3 after pulling weeds with out gloves. I am glad these were not around 30 years ago I would have never had a successful nails business. Lol.

If you like Impress nails, you may want to try Dashing Diva. They are a bit more expensive (around $9), but they go on sale and do discounts. They have a much, much bigger selection, but are the same basic idea as the Kiss Impress.

I actually test drove them this week and really liked them. My daughter had previously had a pair and I had been impressed with how nice they looked. I normally have unpolished natural nails, but will use these on occasion.

I have been using these for years! Get tons of compliments on my nails and they will stay on for me up to 3 weeks depending on how much rough work I do! Can usually find them on sale at CVS and even at Dollar General.

I love them!! I found these extra nail stick on just in case I am out and about I can stick them back on.

I love these too! I get so many compliments and no one can believe they are press ons. My tip is to apply them before bed. Press like crazy and then go to bed and allow time for the glue to set.

I love Impress nails and wear them exclusively now! My latest trick is wiping my nails with acetone remover before applying the nails…I find it helps them last longer. Also applying pressure to the nails off and on during the first 30 minutes helps – the glue is pressure activated I read!
Crystal Paine says
Thank you for sharing that tip!

I do use them!!! I love getting my nails done, but between covid restrictions, costs, and the damage (thinning) that comes from getting a manicure, this was my only real option! The only upsetting thing is that they are not “my nails”! I may check Amazon because you are right, the color options are minimal!
Crystal Paine says
I’m so happy to hear you love them, too!

I’ve been wearing Impress for close to 5 years and am very happy with them.
They are so much cheaper and quicker than going to a nail salon. I also think they are safer than the heat lamps and chemicals used at salons.
I find if I buy 2 matching sets, I can get 3 full manicures from the 2 boxes.
I get compliments on my nails all the time ❤️
Crystal Paine says
What a great tip on buying 2 matching sets!

I found I get a better stretch if I prep my nails with an alcohol swab. It’s what they recommend on the website to use after you have used the prep pad it comes with. Take your time in selecting your size. I have never used the box like you have pictured I just get the ones that are all one color and the nails are numbered for a size 0-11; 0 being big, and 11 being the smallest, if you really select the best size (size down) they can easily make the 10 mark using all of the aforementioned tips.

I started using the Impress Nails about a year ago. I was using the French Manicure KISS nails (the same company) and I decided I wanted nails with color. I order them online because I am still at home all of the time. I tend to like pinks and lavender/purple, reds in the winter. I’ve worn them for 14 days and a few times a bit longer. I do the same thing Pamela does. My nailbeds are small so I always have the larger nails left over. Maybe we need to set up a “nail-swap” 🙂 I found that pressing on the sides of the nails on my fingers whenever I think about it for the first day makes them have a strong bond to my nails and it also helps to shape the nail so it stays secure all around the nailbed.
If you like OPI nail polish they have a small collection of nails in OPI polish colors. I’ve only seen them on the Impress Nail website. I hope everyone will try them.

I’ve been using Kiss Nails for a while. This style is my favorite for application and wear. (Kiss has others than you can add the sticky pad or use glue….I don’t like those.) I don’t get 3 sets of nails out of a box however, because of the sizing….some are just too wide or too narrow. I usually only get one set out of a box but at seven bucks, that’s still a good deal. I can most often get 10-14 days of wear, if I make sure to wash and dry my hands throughly and use the alcohol prep pad before application. But I don’t have littles at home so I’m sure my hands are in less water than yours. 🙂 And I’ve recently discovered these same nails in OPI colors! I’ve only found the, at Ulta so not sure if that’s an exclusive deal or what but I do like being able to get some of my fav OPI colors.

I love these nails and have been wearing them off and on for a couple of years. I will note that I have small nails, so one box only gives me enough for one mani. I also find that they’re too long for me so after the glue has set (typically overnight), I clip them with regular nail clippers to the length I prefer. I find I can get 5-7 days wear out of them with my normal life so that makes me really happy!

Thanks so much for sharing your honest experience!
