Welcome to the last day of the 5-Day Clean Your House for Christmas Challenge. Otherwise known as: Crystal really needs to deep clean her house and she needs the public accountability to get it done. Ahem. 🙂
{Thank you for humoring me. If your house is in great shape, please just skip over these posts. I may be the only one who has kind of let my housework and decluttering slide a bit the past few months.}
It’s been SUCH a great week — you all are such great accountability for me! Thank you for tagging along with me in this challenge.
Today I was planning to focus on the main living areas of the house, but those are really clean and clutter-free, so I’m going to finish the rest of the bathroom drawers/cupboards/underneath the sink today.
Here’s my plan for this morning (feel free to follow it somewhat, if you find it helpful… or you can get a laugh out of how detailed I am!):
This Morning’s Plan
1. Read my Bible, eat breakfast, and start laundry.
2. Exercise, shower, get dressed to my shoes. (Thanks, Flylady!)
3. Morning chores with the kids.
4. Get the kids started on their schoolwork. Kindergarten with Silas.
6. Switch the laundry.
7. Finish cleaning the bathrooms:
- Surface clean.
- Go through the rest of the cupboards, drawers, and closet.
8. Read aloud with the kids.
9. Celebrate a productive morning, er day… because it probably won’t all get done by noon!
So, that’s my morning plan. I’m hopeful to have it all done before dinner time today. I’ll take pictures and will post an update later today to let you know how it goes.

Are you joining me? If so, what room(s) are you planning to tackle today and what’s your morning plan? Let us know in the comments. If you are blogging about it, I’ll have a link-up that you can link your post to in my post later today.

Great cleaning list! My house has never been in great shape. I have 3 kids and it is really hard task to manage to clean the whole house. Thank you for sharing your post! Keep posting!

My list for today is:
– mop all the tile floors
– vacuum carpet throughout (including stairs)
– getting all laundry put away
– make more homemade laundry soap
– deep clean the playroom (I already have good organization in there, but it will be good to get a thorough deep cleaning and a good time to purge any unwanted/unused toys before Christmas comes)

I’m still working on the kitchen! Yesterday it was the pantry, today it was the fridge/freezer and under the sink. I still have a few cabinets that could use organizing in there. Like others have said, this has expanded into more of a 10 day clean for me. 🙂
Also- any tips on encouraging kids to llet go of toys? My daughter doesn’t have too many, but I know she’s getting several for Christmas, so I’d like to be prepared for that and declutter what she has. She’s almost 4 if that helps.

After taking a day off from cleaning yesterday (was out of town), I plan on tackling laundry. I skipped one day of doing laundry and somehow the pile multiplied to 4 loads! I also plan on tackling the kids bathroom today.

I think a deep clean of the bathroom is in order. With a pedestal sink, there is only the medicine cabinet to contend with, but that can be a full on challenge.
This morning’s routine included showering and getting dressed, making coffee, and chocolate milk, getting DS up, showered and dressed, and taking in a bit of Thomas the train before leaving the house at 7:30 to commute to work. DH might have unloaded the dishwasher before leaving for the school run and to work, I will know when I get home.

I am working more toward a 10-day challenge (too many rooms, too many activities?) but it was fun following along. I am an “organizer” by nature (do not judge me by those long-expired craisins LOL) so it is the deep cleaning I get behind on. From what I can see in your photos, you folks do not hang onto stuff and clutter, and that is half the battle. I try to routinely purge, as well. (I also have the world’s best husband who consistently does everyday cleaning chores without prompting.) Thanks for sharing. (BTW, I am still on pantry duty. For some reason it is slow going in that room.)

Need to put away my fall decorations (yes, they’re still out!), catch up laundry, and work on the dining table area of my kitchen–it”s a major hot spot at the moment.
