Back when my husband was in law school and we were living on our bare-bones beans-and-rice budget, we rarely ever had any extra cash to use for dates. However, I didn't let that deter me from coming up with creative ideas for fun dates. We'd take a picnic to the park, we'd go to the library and browse books, we'd take walks. If we could scrounge up a few dollars, we get a meal or two at a fast food restaurant with coupons or hit the $0.99 bowling night.
One of our favorite things to do was to head to a bookstore and get an iced coffee and just spend a few hours looking at books. We'd browse the shelves and then take a stack of books to a cozy corner and read for a while. We usually paid for our drinks with a gift card I'd earned from MyPoints so the whole evening ended up costing us nothing out of pocket and would be a very relaxing and refreshing time for us to spend together away from the pressures and deadlines of law school life.
If you are strapped for cash but would love to also get to have a bookstore date on occasion, I'd definitely recommend MyPoints. It's free to sign up for and you can earn points to cash in for gift cards by reading emails and taking surveys. It takes a bit of time to accumulate enough points to cash in for a gift card, but if you have more time than money right now, it's a great way to be able to enjoy a few free dates every year.

It is nice to know that were aren’t the only ones who have done the bookstore date. Our problem is making sure we don’t buy a bunch, no matter how good the clearance;). I also love mypoints. I think I have been doing it over 10 years now.

I’ve been doing this for years. I love it. It’s great come Christmas time to save all the points and then get gift cards for gifts. And you can earn about $10 worth of points in about 6 months if not less.

I’ve combined being a bzzagent with my points. If you haven’t checked out bzzagent.com you should- you get to try new products for free and then you you write short reports on how you spread the word about the product. Bzzagent rewards you for your “buzz” with mypoints points- it’s very cool. So far I’ve gotten a sonic care toothbrush, a very expensive touchscreen remote, numerous bath and body items and some cool foods to try. You get to keep what they send you PLUS you get coupons in your buzz kit to use and spread to friends. It is such a win win situation!!

I save the points all year and use them at Christmas time to use to buy presents. Last year it was Starbucks for adults and Burger King for kids. I already have over 6000 points this year just from clicking emails and doing their surveys.

I also highly recommend mypoints! If you check your e-mail frequently, it only takes a few extra seconds to click through those 5-point e-mails: and the points add up quickly!
