Hope emailed me the following:
her name from Keepers At Home Magazine. She had an ad saying the she
makes "Pamper-like" cloth diapers for $30 a dozen–shipping is extra (my shipping was about $7.00).
These diapers are made from soft flannel material
and you can request pink, blue, white or baby patterned material. The
closures are velcro. You can order them for $3.00 less per dozen if
you don't want velcro.
I was so pleased with mine. They are well made but not so thick
that they have a problem drying completely. I line dry as much as I
possibly can and they dry in a nice amount of time on the line. You
can add a doubler and still not feel like the baby is a "snowman" shape
at the bottom. They launder beautifully.
For inexpensive doublers, buy a big package of cheap bathroom washrags at
Dollar General. Cut in 1/2 and serge the edges and you have instant doublers! You can also use an old diaper wipe tub and soak half a dozen of the
"doublers" in some warm water and a little baby wash and baby oil.
Then use them throughout the day as wipes and just throw them in with
the cloth diaper pail to launder them.

And if any of you have ordered from her, please let us know your thoughts on these diapers.

We have also used size L and now XL Fuzzi Bunz on our 5 year old daughter who still wets the bed and is around 40 pounds (possibly a little more than 40#?). The problem that we are having is that she is now too tall for the rise (she is a very average height for a five year old). The larges, though we still use them, clearly do not fit correctly, and the XL is better, but is probably still 3 inches too short in the rise, IMO. It also doesn’t fit quite right because of her height. I am hoping to make some soon that will fit better, but as far as I have been able to find, there is little to nothing on the market in cloth for older children who wet the bed. If you sew, you might try making something but taking a pattern and extending the rise or width as needed…. there are some great Yahoo groups about diaper sewing that could help you alter a pattern.

Thanks guys! I may bite the bullet and try the FB, especially if I can find a couple used. Thanks also for the info on the inserts!!

We use size large FB for overnight with my son, who weighs 38 lbs. He is still has several snaps for expansion around his stomach and one more for his legs. We stuff with two microfiber and 1-2 hemp doublers.

Courtney, I’ll second the recommendation to try Fuzzi Bunz in size Large. I use them for my 27 lb toddler on the smallest settings and am pretty confident that they would fit your son. I love our Fuzzi Bunz! I ordered them from http://www.diapers.com and got $10 off my first order plus the $14.97 rebate for the Parenting magazine they offer you (you can print and mail in a form for the rebate.) I got a GREAT deal that way! If you want to use my referral code for the $10 off, it is: KAWX4700 .

Courtney – Fuzzi Bunz large will probably work on your son – they run really big and fit my 2 year old when he was around 40 pounds and had plenty of room for extra inserts. He was a super heavy wetter and used two microfiber with three hemp at night. HTH! (Disclaimer – I do sell refurbished FB and have some larges available, so maybe I’m not to be trusted, lol)

I really want to use cloth diapers for my son who wets the bed at night, but he is too big (40 lbs) for most of the diapers on the market, as well as the patterns I have seen. Does anyone have any suggestions on bigger cloth diapers? I can make them or buy them, but they need to be absorbent enough for overnight.

Just wondering if these require a waterproof cover? I cloth diaper my 2 year old, but am expecting a newborn any day now and need to get smaller-sized cloth diaper covers or alternative for him. Thanks for all your great posts on cloth diapering lately.
