My ever-willing kitchen helper.
A new recipe: Apple Butter Muffins.
Hamburger Vegetable Soup to share with friends who flew in from out of town to spend the day with us earlier in the week.
We got over 14 inches of snow on Wednesday and Thursday! When Jesse went out to shovel off the driveway, Silas got all bundled up so he could “help Daddy dig” as he called it. 🙂
Kaitlynn had a blast in the snow! Kathrynne and I preferred the warm indoors more. 🙂
Pretty much everything was shut down, closed, or cancelled for two days, so we loved having some unexpected quiet family days all together at home.
They are predicting even more snow is coming on Monday. We’ll see. It’s certainly been a change from last year when I don’t think it even snowed at all, if I’m remembering correctly.
The aftermath of playing in the snow. 🙂

Soooooooo much fun ! I love snow !!
I do have to ask….. what bread maker do you have ? I prefer the ones that have a regular looking loaf as yours does. TIA!

I am so over snow this winter! I keep thinking to myself that I prayed for this, so the farmers could have a better crop this year, but I am done! My little fruit trees that we planted 2 years ago are looking a little pathetic half covered in snow. I am glad that someone could have fun with the latest snow storm and that soup just made it to the menu this week. Thanks for the idea!

I love the look of those muffins. I have one question :in the homeade applebutter recipe, do you add any water to the crockpot? Thank you!
Kim says
Today in Colorado Springs we got blasted again so no doubt you will be getting more!

Your kitchen helper looks like he is getting too big to climb on the table 🙁

We had 10.2 inches of snow Thursday-Friday. We have more coming per the forecast for Monday night too–possibly another 8 inches. I’ve been praying for precipitation to catch up for the farmers & gardeners before planting, so I’m really thankful!! It’s great weather for soup & baking!!

Here’s a snow clean-up tip I’ve been using for over 26 yrs…..Lay an old flannel-backed vinyl tablecloth upside-down on the floor by the door. Any snow on boots, coats, etc. is soaked up by the fabric but doesn’t get the floor wet, thanks to the vinyl. Snow gear can be easily gathered up & moved to wherever you dry it (the basement here) by folding in the corners & carrying the entire bundle. I have a “snow tablecloth” that I still use for my 2 youngest, now 16 & 14. Works like a charm!

Great snow cleaning tip!

great idea! i hate the ‘aftermath’ clean-up part of snow storms. the kids come in from playing and drag snow across two rooms and then downstairs and across to the other end of the room where the propane stove is. i wish i had heard this idea about 25 years ago!

wow that is quite the snowfall. Such weird weather here this winter one day it is warm enough to run outside with my son in a long sleeve t-shirt and the next day it is freezing cold with an ice storm on its way. Then again that is kind of normal for Indiana.

We had freezing rain Friday and my kindergartener got her first “snow” day. She was thrilled! It all melted in the afternoon and my DH was working from home to avoid the bad roads. I took her out shopping with me and she enjoyed the mommy time that she usually doesn’t get since she goes to school.

We had fun in the snow too, but not 14 inches, wow! We made the rolling snow boulders ever! 🙂

We don’t even have that much snow here and we get it EVERY year. WOW! Not wonder everything was shut down. We had some snow here in the Midwest, but we are kinda use to it… although I have to admit I am getting tired of getting stuck in my driveway. I think I need to get a shovel and clean out the driveway. The snow shovel disappeared….
Our week was so nice. No sick children. YAY! I was able to read 3 books this week. A first for me I think. I was also able to attend my first EVER coupon swap. It was fun and I enjoyed it. I took another step toward serving others by volunteering to help with an activity at church. I am kinda excited. I hope I enjoy it and can be a blessing.
My oldest daughter also got saved this week. That is the highlight for me. I can see a change in her. I feel so blessed to have a child openly and willingly give her heart and life to her Savior. Our family has been through SO MUCH the past 2 years it amazes me how the children can see the Lord through all that. So many questions about Why isn’t God answering our prayers mommy still ring in my ears. I can’t answer her, but HE can. He is the one that is comforting her and able to show her what she needs right now. Our assistant Pastor and her Sunday School teacher have been such a good influence. I will never be able to thank them enough for stepping up and helping our family. They really have been the angels unaware for us.
We started our garden this week. 3 flats of onions. I am excited for “planting season”. Next we get to plant our flowers for our butterfly garden. Our house also needs a few flower bushes. 🙂

I think we’ve had as much rain this week as you’ve had snow! Our yard is now little ponds and lots and lots of mud!

Thanks for sharing these. Enjoy the snow! We never see it here in Mexico!

Your soup looks so good! I am in a super end of winter funk. Your pictures make me want to hunker down with my family with a big pot of something hot and enjoy the last(hopefully) couple weeks of winter!
