I’m going to be out of town at a conference half of this week, so I’m keeping my goals short and sweet. 🙂
Last week’s goals:
Marriage/Mothering/Homemaking Goals
1. Finish reading Teddy’s Button aloud to the kids at lunch time. {We made an executive to stop this book and instead Kathrynne begged if she could start reading Sir Bentley aloud to us. I was happy to oblige. She’s been reading this series and loving it so much that she wanted to share it with us.}
2. Have a movie night with Jesse. {Does watching the Royals game together count?}
3. Write a love note to Jesse.
4. Start a new sewing or handwork project.{I started knitting a scarf.}Personal Goals
5. Work on reviewing and memorizing Romans 1 and Romans 2:1-3.
6. Finish reading I Thought It Was Just Me (But It Isn’t), A Proper Pursuit, and a few other titles. {I made some good headway on my own book-reading this week, but I didn’t finish any books yet. Look for an update later this week, when I hopefully will have finished a few books and will have some short reviews to share. :)}
7. Run or exercise at least 5 times.Business Goals
8. Continue to work on chapters 8 and 9 of my book manuscript.
9. Write answers to questions for an upcoming online interview.
10. Finish my first article for an upcoming magazine column.
This week’s goals:
Marriage/Mothering/Homemaking Goals
1. At least 3 days, read aloud with the kids and/or listen to Kathrynne read Sir Bentley. {My plan is for her to read while we fold laundry. We’ll see if that plan pans out.}
2. Write a love note to Jesse.
Personal Goals
3. Work on reviewing and memorizing Romans 1 and Romans 2:1-3.
4. Finish at least two books.
5. Run or exercise at least 4 times.
Business Goals
6. Finish chapters 8 and 9 of my book manuscript, start on chapter 10.

Is there a specific reason you chose to stop reading Teddy’s Button. That’s on my list to have my son read this year, so I’m curious. 🙂 Thanks in advance for any insight!
My kids just didn’t enjoy it. They had already listened to it on audio before and all thought it was kind of dry. Not sure exactly why, but after trying to slog through it for weeks, I finally decided it was okay to just move on. 🙂 Some of my readers have said their kids loved it, so it may have just been my kids and the fact that they already knew the story line!
I love having my daughter read to me while I do my “chores”. She thinks it’s fun, I love it, and we get to spend more time together. 🙂
Go Royals!
The game totally counts! My goal this week is to finish a book. I have gotten 3 going over the last month and haven’t finished any of them. I think it has been weeks since I finished one. Now that my son’s soccer season is over, it is time to fix that.
That’s great that you’ve memorized Romans 1! I’ve been working on Romans 12 and would love to have it all memorized this calendar year!
Watching a baseball game together sounds like it will be even more fun than watching a movie.
My son is six and so far he hasn’t really been interested in me reading him chapter books. He still loves his reading lots of picture books. Maybe next year he will like it a little bit more. I think it is great that your daughter will take over the reading out loud for the next book.
This week will be a do over week when it comes to my goals. I wasn’t very productive last week.
I’ll have to remember about reading while folding laundry. Maybe that would help motivate my son to help fold. He hates folding laundry.
Hope you have a great time at the conference.
I remember when my oldest reached a level of reading when she began asking if she could read aloud books she was interested in to the family. It was so fun to see how she added her own inflections and personality into the story! And for me, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to be the listener for once. I’m so glad you are getting to enjoy this with your kids too!
My oldest is now 13 and her latest thing she’s starting to share with the family is creating her own lattes. I have to say, getting a homemade latte and settling back hear a story read aloud… I could get used to this new season of life! 🙂
Homemade lattes and getting read aloud to… I love it! Great work, mama! 🙂
Which conference are you going to? I know that Allume is this weekend… 😀
Yes, that’s the one. 🙂 It was a last-minute thing and I was thrilled that all the details fell into place for me to go.
Have fun at your conference! I’ve had a great routine going with exercise the past 3 months and then we went on an 8 day trip to see family last week and I can already tell I’m going to really have to work to get back in the groove!
Reading and folding laundry sounds like a good combination. I’ll have to remember that for when my daughter gets older. 🙂
Trips can definitely throw things out of whack… we’ve gotten better at trips the past few years as we’ve done a lot more traveling, but I think the biggest thing is that we’ve learned we have to give ourselves grace for a few days after we get back home from a big trip. Lowering expectations seems to really help there!
Our pastor just spoke this last week about how we should be memorizing the bible and keeping it in our hearts. It’s something I need to do more of.
Thanks for the linky…hope you have a wonderful trip.
Yes! I’m not that great at it… but bit by bit I’m hiding pieces of God’s Word in my heart!
The Royal’s game definitely counts! Living in Nebraska with no professional teams, my husband has been a Royal’s fan for life. It’s been so much fun watching them this year (and so many late nights with all of the extra innings!) 🙂
Good luck with your goals this week! I’m excited to hear about the new book!
Yay for another Royal’s fan! 🙂
