Last week was Kaitlynn’s birthday, so we celebrated in number of ways — including a Mommy-Daughter Date and taking crazy selfies together. Because, of course! 🙂
It’s another full week this week! I’m at the ice rink all day today with Kaitlynn, then I’m headed to NYC tomorrow to film a segment with Fox Business (Eek! I’m split between being crazy excited about this and crazy nervous… it’s definitely another opportunity to jump out of my comfort zone! I’ve only been to NYC once and I’ve never been there by myself, so it should be an adventure!).
{The segment is supposed to air on Friday night, but things can always change when it comes to TV. I’ll keep you posted when I know for sure!}
I fly back home on Wednesday morning and then we’re packing up to head to Atlanta to meet my sister and her family for a few days of exploring the city together.
And then we’re headed back home again to spend time with two sets of out-of-town guests that are coming in Saturday and Sunday.
So with all of this in mind, I’m going to keep my goals very simple this week.
Last week’s goals:

It is so amazing to see the doors that God is opening for you! You will do great in NYC and have such a great time, too.

Thank you so much for your sweet words of encouragement. It’s truly amazing what God chooses to do through broken vessels!

I need to remember to keep my goals simple when I have a busy week. I tend to keep with the same number of goals regardless of my schedule, which just leads to disappointment 🙂
Victoria says
Hope your trip to NYC goes smoothly. Birthday week here. My daughter turned 13 today, one of my sons turns 15 on Sunday and my husband’s birthday is Thursday. Two parties for the kids, three homemade cakes, and three special homemade dinners is going to keep me busy most of the week so my goals are small this week, basic blogging, finish one book, and enjoy loving on the birthday people.
Shelly says
Sounds like a busy and fun week for you. Hope your trips go well. I love the crazy selfie.
Ashlee says
Enjoy nyc. I’ve lived here three years now. Not my favorite time of year at all though.
Emily says
Crystal, would you consider doing a reader meet up while in NYC? I live in the city and would love to attend something like this! Let me know if you need any city recommendations. Best of luck with your segment 🙂
Crystal Paine says
I’d love to, but I literally have no blocks of time that aren’t already booked because it’s a whirlwind 24-hour trip from start to finish and Fox already has my itinerary all lined up for me (they are paying for the trip/booked all the travel). Maybe it will work out if I come again to NYC in the future — that would be fun!
Lisa says
I love your ‘Choose Joy’ shirt!! Where did you get it?
Crystal Paine says
That’s from our new t-shirt line that we’ll be unveiling in a few weeks with Cents of Style. I’m SO excited about it!! Stay tuned for a special deal during the first few days of the launch!
Lisa says
Ooh, exciting!!

I’ve never really thought to make personal, ministry, family and business goals for each week. I really big on living intensional so I have goals for these things but mostly they are “big picture goals.” Love this 🙂 ? what does your movie dates with your husband look like? My husband and I often watch a show together at the end of the day… But it’d be a stretch to call it a date haha

Hey Crystal….I am from Georgia. There are so many neat things to do here. In Dahlonega, Georgia, you can canoe down a lazy river for about two hours. Stone Mountain Park has several attractions. We have the Georgia Aquarium that is a hit with children. LEGOLAND Discovery Center is at Phipps Plaza. Six Flags. Lanier Islands. The World of Coca Cola. Fernbank Museum. The Atlanta Zoo. Calloway Gardens. There are so many great parks if you have a question just ask….I would be happy to tell you if I can. The Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain. I haven’t been to it yet but there is the Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary. Plenty of ziplines and places to horseback ride. Helen, GA is a great place to visit. They have cute little shops in a German theme. Tallulah Gorge is a great place to hike. My brother runs a fly fishing guide service………he takes folks to higher country waters and teaches them to fly fish. Its such a fun outdoor experience…..reeleminguideservice.com There is plenty of white water rafting just google it. I hope you have fun….if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me through my website.
The heat is awful here………..probably not as bad as say Texas.
If you want a great outdoor experience, my brother teaches fly fishing to most anyone in the North Georgia Mountains. His website is Reeleminguideservice.com. He takes people out into the higher country into different waters to fly fish.
One more thing……there are plenty of ziplines here as well. That is so fun!!

I just read this on my commute home on the NYC subway. Enjoy your time in the city! New Yorkers are always willing to help a visitor. We just do it quickly!
Crystal Paine says
I love New Yorkers! 🙂
Pam says
Great idea to keep your goals short and sweet for such a busy week!
Anne says
Could you write an article about creating goals when you no longer have a foot in the professional world? I left my job to be a SAHM (which was the right move for us), but I often feel like I am floundering without the structure of an office environment.
Megan says
I’d be curious to see some family movie recommendations from you sometime. We are picky and I have a hunch you are too! 🙂
Tamara says
Here, too!
Ashley - Embracing Homemaking says
If I can help with any marketing/endorsements just let me know. 😉
Crystal Paine says
Thanks for your kind offer! Say tuned for details on our launch team opportunity. We’ll be opening that up soon!
Ashley - Embracing Homemaking says
I’m sure you have much bigger endorsers but you know, in case you need variety. 🙂
Crystal Paine says
We’re actually doing something “outside-the-box” with endorsements this time around. See my post from last week here: https://moneysavingmom.com/2015/06/get-a-pre-release-copy-of-my-book.html {So excited my publisher went along with this idea!}
Ashley - Embracing Homemaking says
That is a great idea! I’ve only been asked to endorse a book a few times but every time I feel silly having never written a book myself. The last author explained that opinions aren’t just limited to those who are professional writers. That made me feel better and again, I think that’s a great idea! I’ll keep a look out for your launch info. 🙂
