1. A Funny Introvert Quote
This made me laugh this week. And judging from the comments and likes on the post, I’m not alone there.
2. A Choose Joy Banner
I met Mandy from Happy Hoot Parties at the Business Boutique event. She was SO sweet to send me one of her adorable products recently — this Choose Joy banner. I love it and love the constant reminder it gives to choose a positive outlook during the day!
3. Volunteering in the Childrens’ Ministry at Church
I started volunteering in the Girls’ Class at church on Sundays — much to Kathrynne and Kaitlynn’s great excitement. (I had no idea they would think it was the coolest thing ever or I would have volunteered sooner!!) I’m so grateful to have a much quieter schedule these days with a lot less travel — which means I can be involved in volunteer opportunities like this!
{Last Sunday, the girls were supposed to journal and decorate a page of things they were thankful for. The teachers/volunteers joined in and it was so good to sit and just document a page of gratitude to the Lord.}
4. Camp in the City
Our kids went to Camp in the City hosted by Pinecove/our church this week. They had so much fun! This is their second year to participate in this camp and they just absolutely love it.
Plus, Jesse and I got to have some great quality time together — including a lunch/movie date one afternoon plus have lots of good conversation and get a number of work projects completed, too.
5. Poldark
Multiple readers suggested we should watch this show since I loved Downton Abbey. I was leery of it, because it’s not one of my favorite time periods and it was hard to imagine anything could top my love for Downton.
But we’re finished the first season this week and we’ve fallen in love. Jesse and I both think this show is very, very well done, highly engaging, and the character development is rich and deep. There are a few parts that are a little edge-y, but all in all, we’re finding it fantastic and such a fun show to watch together. (Best of all, Season 2 is supposed to be coming out soon!)
What are YOU loving this week? Tell us in the comments!
Rachel says
The Paradise was a great show, but there are only two seasons (boo!) HUGE Poldark fan, cannot wait for the next season- I’ve seen set pictures of Aiden Turner in his Poldark garb floating around the web already, yay!

My husband told me last night that he read somewhere that it was slated for a Fall release and that Season 3 was already booked. YAY!!!
Lisa says
In case anyone wanted to binge watch POLDARK, the blog Simply June has all of the episodes. Thanks so much for the recommendation, I loved it! ?
Kirstin says
The Poldark novels by Winston Graham are wonderful, because you learn what Ross and Demelza are thinking. I’ve read the first four of thirteen.
There won’t be more topless scything in series two on television, but it will be what you call edgy.
Crystal Paine says
Thanks so much for recommending the books!
Jessica says
Yes, definitely take a look at the books! I think the 2015 production was well-done, and many of the actors perfectly cast, but since it’s impossible to fit everything into a television series . . . well, a LOT was left out!
Denise says
Loved a weekend getaway with extended family.

I’m loving Poldark as well. I started watching it on your recommendation and am about 5 episodes in. It is really good.
I’m loving that we had a surprise visit from some good friends yesterday. The husband has been working in Afghanistan for the last 2 years. He got a week off and was able to come home. It was so great to get to see him!
My mom. I mean, of course, I love my mom, but we lost my dad last month and she’s handling it so well. They were married for almost 47 years. She misses him, of course, but she’s setting such a great example to me of just trusting in God and His plan.
Crystal Paine says
Yay! I’m so glad you’re enjoying Poldark!!

I teach Sunday School one Sunday a month to Ages 3-6. It’s fun, but a lot of work at that age.
5 Things I’m Loving This Week:
1) Being able to take our kid’s to a Family Amusement Park.
2) Owning a piano that I can sit down and Worship the Lord in the midst of chaos. It gives me such perspective when I do this.
3) Learning to give myself Grace to “let go” of the to-do list.
4) My Supportive Husband.
5) The New Soap Dispenser that I made out of a Mason Jar. It looks so much prettier than the plastic bottle I was re-using over and over.

Learning to give myself Grace to “let go” of the to-do list. <---- SO good!

I am loving getting ready to leave on my first mission’s trip to the Dominican where our team(i only know my husband but no other team members) will provide professional development for Dominican teachers, give out clothing at two orphanages, give rice, beans, clothing to Haitian refugees where they live under awnings. I am loving getting out of my comfort zone.
Crystal Paine says
SO exciting!

So glad you & Jesse had some fun dates this week! My five things:
1) Two new nieces being born just 2 weeks apart!
2) A day at the water park with my family yesterday.
3) Leaving for a weekend trip to meet one of the new nieces early enough to watch the sun rise as we drove!
4) My homeschool mom Bible that was gifted to me. Love, love, love it!
5) The Teaching from Rest book club that I’m hosting on my back porch this summer for local homeschool moms. So refreshing & uplifting!
Thank you for the five things post this week!

I love the quote! That is totally me. 🙂 This week I am loving sitting on the porch with a good book and a glass of iced tea, while I watch my kids play in the backyard. It is fun that they are old enough to play together and entertain each other for hours!
Crystal Paine says
Isn’t it so fun when the kids are old enough to play together??

Oh goodness, that quote is so true for me! Thank you for the recommendation of Poldark. My mom just finished Rosemary & Thyme, Lark Rise to Candleford, and Doctor Thorne; she’s tried several things since then but kept running into bad language, etc. We’ll definitely give Poldark a try.
If you liked Downton, give Mr. Selfridge a try. The classic Upstairs, Downstairs is a good one, too. It moves a bit more slowly than shows now, but it’s so engrossing.
Crystal Paine says
Thanks so much for the recommendation!
Elizabeth says
I second the recommendation for Dr. Thorne. It’s from the makers of Downton Abby and is completely clean (except for two words used). It’s on Amazon Prime for free.
Crystal Paine says
We watched that two weeks ago and enjoyed it!
Leah says
My daughter went to her first VBS last week and we both loved it! She came home with sweet inspirational ideas that she learned, and I got to spend some one-on-one time with my baby boy! I’m also loving that we joined an outdoor pool for the summer, since it has been almost 100 degrees here all week!
Crystal Paine says
I love this! Thanks for sharing!
Betsy says
Oh my, I can totally relate to that first quote!!!! I am such an introvert. Love it. Right now I’m loving beautiful weather at the beach!
Crystal Paine says
Oh! Beautiful weather at the beach! I will try to not be jealous!

But if you live in a small house, sometimes you go OUTside because it’s too people-y INside! 😉 I always enjoy reading these posts–so encouraging to find joy in the little things. Thanks! 🙂
Crystal Paine says
Haha! 🙂

I also loved Downton Abbey. Another great show to try is called “Lark Rise to Candleford.” It’s so good. It’s available on amazon prime.
Crystal Paine says
Thanks so much for that recommendation!

Hi Crystal, I loved buying my little ones some new outfits this week and everything I was looking for was one sale!! Don’t you love it when that happens! I have 5 little ones, my youngest is 7 weeks old so we need lots of clothes as they are growing so fast! I like reading your updates and I’ve been enjoying watching your scopes while I fold my laundry.
Blessings, Peta
Crystal Paine says
Oh! I love it when you can find great deals like that!
Sherry says
Yes! I just finished Poldark also and loved it! I stayed away from Downton because I felt it was edgy! Too funny.
You may also be interested in Larkrise to Candleford its on Amazon Prime for free, it is EXCELLENT, clean and wholesome, characters you fall in love with and positive lessons learned.
Guest says
Oh my goodness! I honest to goodness came to the comments to leave a suggestion to watch Larkrise to Candleford – I LOVED that show and was so sad it was over. I also loved Poldark and can’t wait for the rest of it.
Crystal Paine says
Thanks SO much for that recommendation! Adding this to our list! We’re trying out Home Fires right now. 🙂
Rebecca says
So, is Poldark on Amazon Prime?
