I was honored (and surprised!) to be featured on Success Magazine’s site yesterday with an incredibly generous write-up, as well as some of my top tips for successful blogging.
If you’ve been thinking of starting a blog or just want a peek at the behind-the-scenes on how this blog got started, be sure to read the article here on My Top 5 Tips for Successful Blogging.

Congratulations. This success reminds me of “The Slight Edge” principles. You have worked hard to build your blog, little by little, over time and now the growth perpetuates itself as more opportunities and blessings come your way. Then you get more growth, and more opportunities and blessings….
“Focus on the fact that you can’t do everything”…I love that!!!
That doesn’t just apply to blogging, but in every day life! 🙂
This is awesome, Crystal! It is so important to remember that small steps forward will eventually get us where we are wanting to go…and that there are no shortcuts. How often I try to instill these ideas into my kids, especially my older ones, but I am not so good at heeding my own advice at times. Thanks for the timely reminder. I am also guilty of falling into the comparison trap. I personally can’t be reminded of not doing that enough!
Great interview! So good to hear that there are no shortcuts and that small wins do add up. At the time those wins can see so insignificant. It’s great to see how your hard work has paid off. I’ve been following your blog since 2008 and I so appreciate the fact that you have been so transparent in your posts about your successes and your struggles. Just know that along with the criticism you have received, there are so many of us that are living much happier, more fruitful, blessed lives because of all your encouragement. I so appreciate the way you have really used your gifts to help others though your blog 🙂
Thank you so, so much for this sweet comment! It truly blessed me!
“I think so many times we look at that little trickle and we think, That’s not worth our time. But when you’re first starting, it’s those little trickles.”
I SO needed to hear this today. And not just about blogging! But it’s true with blogging, too. I’ve been feeling very discouraged about my entrepreneurial efforts lately, like I’m behind the times and will never be able to catch up to other successful online bloggers in my segment, and that if I ever do, people won’t even be blogging anymore.
I know I shouldn’t compare myself, but some days, it’s hard not to!
I so know how dangerous and discouraging comparison can be! I’m grateful that the post was an encouragement! Keep on keeping on!
Congratulations on the great write up!
As a new blogger, I love seeing your tips.
Thanks for your sweet words of encouragement!
Congratulations. I paused to read the interviewer’s statement several times: you asked what would make it “a win” for her. A servant’s heart-enough said.
Great article – congratulations! I am really considering a blog and have started jotting down ideas and I have read all your hints and recommendations!
This is a great article! Congratulations on being featured at Success Magazine!
I have followed Crystal’s blog daily for years. I love her insight! I have so many friends that have told me that I should start a blog about local deals in my area… and because of Crystal, I finally did it. Please check out my blog at http://www.frugalmomclub.com!
