48-Hour Giveaway: Simple Language for Adoptive Families (10 winners)

Are you an adoptive family? Do you know an adoptive family whom you would like to encourage? If so, you’ll definitely want to enter today’s giveaway.

Here’s a message from Amy who created Simple Language for Adoptive Families:

Hello friends! My name is Amy Kendall and I am an avid follower of MoneySavingMom.com. I am so grateful for all that I have learned here!

In addition to being a mom, I write language resources for adoptive families. These books and CDs are filled with phrases that adoptive families can use to communicate with their newly internationally adopted child in their native language to help with the transition home.

The chapters contain useful phrases like, “Do you need to go potty?” “Are you hungry?” “There will be more later” (knowing there will be more food can be difficult for children coming from orphanages) and phrases to help children feel comforted like, “ I will always love you,” “I won’t leave you,” “We are so glad you are a part of our family,” “You are so special!”

Today’s giveaway gives you the opportunity to win a book and cd set for your own family or to give to a family that you know is in the process of adoption. Ten book and cd sets will be given away and you can choose the language that you will need. This resource is available in Amharic (for families adopting from Ethiopia), Mandarin Chinese, Haitian Creole, Russian and Spanish.

I entered. Keeping my fingers crossed. We are starting the process to adopt from China and we would LOVE to win this resource. Thanks for the giveaway!!!

  • How timely that you bring this up. My blogger friend Jamie just wrapped up 10 days of Adoption, a series of posts about her personal journey with adoption. http://seejamieblog.com/tag/10-days-of-adoption/

I am going to ask her to mention this to her readers.

It would be awesome if Amy Kendall would offer a coupon code for these resources. I work for a non-profit adoption support agency and we have a resource library for adoptive families. I would love to have a few of these in our resource library! Of course, funds are limited for non profit agencies (and everyone else!), so a coupon code would be great 🙂

Hi Lindsey, Please feel free to contact me. I am very happy to make arrangements so that adoption agencies and adoption resource agencies can have copies in their libraries. You can reach me through my website and then I can reply to you and we can work something out. I really appreciate your help in supporting adoptive families!

  • I LOVE how much you support adoption and orphan causes – we have a son adopted from Russia and our newest daughter was adopted in the states and has some special medical needs – God uses so much more than DNA to build families some times – thank you for showcasing this cool site and the giveaway! We sure would have loved to win it when our son came home a few years ago! 😉 will share!

Thanks for this giveaway! We are an adoptive family x6 and have used a CD set to learn Russian for each of our adoptions from Ukraine. If I win this set I am going to host a giveaway to raise funds for other adoptive families!

  • Kathy says:

Hope to win this for my sister who is adopting from China. She would love this resource.

  • Leigh Hampton says:

We bought one before we brought our boys home from Ethiopia. It was helpful. Plus they liked to listen to it to here something familiar. It was in our car CD player for months.

  • Amy L says:

This is an AWESOME resource! People have NO idea how expensive financially and emotionally international adoptions can be. We have been blessed three times with adoption internationally, and are hoping for one more chance to add to our family. Thank you Crystal for being so diverse with your giveaways! Love it!

  • Ebie says:

I work for A Gift of Hope Adoptions (www.agiftofhopeadoptions.com) and while we don’t do international adoptions (or at least not the matching part of it) I LOVE seeing adoption related giveaways! Thanks so much for supporting adoption in its various forms.

Blessings to all you fellow adoptive families! We adopted from Russia and have lots of language materials. But we are hosting a teenage Ukrainian orphan this summer for 5 weeks. She speaks Ukrainian and Russian. I’d love to give it to someone else hosting from Ukraine who will be hosting younger children and have no experience figuring out the langage barrier. Or donate to our church’s fledgling Orphan Care Ministry. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Alaina says:

This would be really great! We have three through adoption and are just beginning the process for #4 from China!

  • Natalie says:

I passed this on to my adoption group. I’m adopting from Latin America and speak Spanish fluently. I can see this being a great resource for a lot of families, though.

  • The link is not working for me, says the survey is closed. Is there another way to enter the contest?

  • It says the giveaway closes on Monday, April 30th at midnight. Was that a typo? Or am I missing something?
