If you missed this morning’s assignment, you can check it out here.
Truth be told, I was kind of wishing I hadn’t assigned this project today when it came time to do it. 🙂
Especially when I found what looked like a popcorn party in the van. I’m not sure what it is with us and popcorn strewn everywhere. I guess it’s because popcorn is one of the childrens’ favorite snacks? But man is it messy!
After I was finished vacuuming the van out, I was so glad I’d followed through with this project. It felt so good to have the van all nice and clean again! And it only ended up taking me about 20 minutes from start to finish.
The seven things I found to get rid of today. Well, eight, actually. Two reusable bags, two books, and 4 bibs. I loved these bibs that a reader made for us when our girls were little, but I realized that it was probably time to part with them seeing as Kaitlynn is almost five! 🙂
How did you do on Assignment #6? I’d love to have you share your progress and success with us so we can be inspired. Either post a link to your blog post below or leave a comment with your update.

Phew — I saved this one for the weekend and it is a good thing I did. It took about two hours to clean my car (with a few minor kid interruptions). Sadly, it only took 2 weeks to get that way. Any suggestions for organizing the car?!? I spend much of the day driving kids to and from school/activities so our car always seems to have that “lived in” look.

Popcorn party in the van is not bad. I recently toted a straw bale in the trunk of my compact sedan. It was so bad I actually clogged the Shop Vac hose and had to snake it out with a curtain rod.
But I found $10. Yay!
The time chore was horrid for me this time round. I jittered through the house in a very Brownian fashion and I kept picking stuff up, but when the time went off (and golly, I have never been gladder to hear it ring in my life) I didn’t feel very accomplished. I wish I knew how to pick up better.

I got my husband to help me with the cars since he had the day off. He was not thrilled about it at all, but we emptied a whole trash bag full of stuff out of the cars! Plus the pile of random items that needed to go back in the house. This was long overdue and I’m glad we got it finished!

We were on vacation last week, so today was my first day. My van had just been cleaned out, so I thought about skipping the assignment since my to-do list was already really long. Instead I decided to clean out the fridge. It’s funny, because I didn’t think it really needed it, but it does look better now. I found a few things to toss, organized a bit, and the door bins did need wiping out. So glad I didn’t skip. Thanks for the challenge.

I actually just cleaned out my van last week. My floor mats were so badly stained that I figured what is the worse that could happen to them if I threw them in the washing machine? So I washed them and then laid them on the fence to dry – aside from a bit of curling, that relaxed in just a couple of days, my floor mats look amazing! Enjoying these daily challenges – thank you!

Thanks for this assignment. My car really needed it, but I wouldn’t have done it without this nudge.

During last week’s challenge, the belt on the vacuum broke, so now that it’s fixed, I caught up on vacuuming the couch cushions. Today I’ll do the car. I’ve been purging so many things that I actually have an empty kitchen cabinet!

The goodwill stores should be stocked for the next few years from all the readers purging their house of junk! 🙂 It’s amazing how much our society produces, that we think we need. But as we are all getting rid of more things each day, I think (hope) we are finding out that we are happier with less. 🙂 Blessings to you all as you continue organizing your home!

I’ll pay postage if you’ll send me that bumkins bib! They are my favorite and ours are too wiped out for baby #4! Please email me if you are willing!

It has quite a few nasty stains on it, otherwise I’d be happy to.

I was too wondering why you were getting of it! Funny story, my son is 3 1/2 and I just bought that exact bib at a garage sale 2 weeks ago for 25 c for when I have another one – but it’s won’t be anytime soon! I guess I am going the opposite direction…

I didn’t know if I would get it all done today. But I did it. My SUV floor was filled with cheerios! When we go places early in the morning I let the kids take them in a ziploc bag and eat them dry as an on the go breakfast.

I am enjoying this series! I did not start until this weekend, but was able to catch up pretty quickly. Today I cleaned our freezer and cleaned out the van. So nice to have an assignment to keep me moving.
I have only purged about 3 things, so I need to get moving on that one!

Wow! Thanks for posting! 🙂

It was really windy today and I didn’t think I would get to do the main assignment, but it finally calmed down this evening. It’s amazing how many things I’m finding around my house that we just don’t need.

Didn’t get to cleaning out my car today, but I will this week. But I did throw out 7 things! De-cluttering is theraputic 🙂

I am a couple days behind, so today I tackled underneath the beds. I only had my and my husband’s bed and our daughter’s crib since my son’s bed sits on the floor (score!).
My daughter’s crib wasn’t bad at all, but my bed… ugh! It took me forever, partly because I had been storing a bunch of clothes under there that I was *convinced* I would fit in again someday. When I pulled them out and really started looking at them I realized that I wouldn’t wear any of them if I did get back to that size anyway (Hello! They are all at least 6 years old and from my college years- most not something I would wear as a mom!) I felt so silly for having kept them for so long and it felt SOOOO good to throw them in the garage sale pile (which means I hit WAY over 7 items- I am definitely good with that!).
It was hard work, but having our overflowing underbed (I don’t know if that is a term… it is now) pared down to two small bags of maternity clothes feels amazing!

Yikes.. I might be a little bit behind on this one, my car has built up quite a collection of clothes, books, soccer balls, etc. I like having it all with me just in case I need something though! Haha

The girls and I went to the car wash. We cleaned out the car, vacuumed it, shined all the interior windows, shined all the interior stuff with armor all then washed it. My husband didn’t know what to think…..he always gets stuck cleaning the car. 🙂

Super successful day. Got most of everything on the list done. I got my van washed, wiped down everything & got all the trash out. Didn’t get to vacuum it, but it’s so much better!

When I first read the challenge this morning I thought, “No way!” Then the weather was gorgeous (rare for the Seattle area) and I knew I had to do it. I had my teenager vacuum but I did the rest, it’s so much better plus it was an excuse to stay outside and another item tackled from my Spring Cleaning list. Love the challenges!
