Kathrynne was feeling better today and we were able to try the Bubble Painting.
I didn’t think to look up multiple recipes for Bubble Painting on the internet, but I just went off of this pin on Pinterest. Afterward, I did look up recipes online and realized that this probably would have worked better had we used actual paint mixed in with the bubbles instead of food coloring.
But hey, we had a lot of fun making abstract paintings and we used stuff we already had on hand, so it wasn’t a failed experiment by any means. 🙂
Silas didn’t enjoy painting as much as the girls and quickly resorted to building with Legos instead.

A fun variation of this is to put bubbles in a small bowl with paint. Mix together. Then take a straw and blow into the bubble mixture to make as many bubbles as you can! Then place a piece of paper on top of the bubbles to make a bubble print. The darker the color the better to have it show up the best on the paper. Enjoy!!
Sweet. My youngest is having a play-date today – I’m sure they’ll love doing this.
We watched shows from the library, ate homemade popsicles, and ate grapes from the garden.
Doesnt the food coloring dye everything in sight? Fingers table tops clothes etc. And not come off? Maybe you know about something I dont. Please Share
We only put a few drops in and it came right off of faces, the table, etc. However, you might want to use aprons and cover the table if you try this. I certainly don’t want you to ruin something at your house trying to do a project you read about on my blog!
You could also try baking soda and see if that helps get it off (this works for popsicle stains on faces too). I learned that after my son ate a slushy of some sort and it stained his face. Nothing took it off but baking soda and water. 🙂
Thanks so much for that tip! Kool-Aid, popsicles, and Tang drive me crazy with sticking to little one’s face (His face seems to be velcro for stainy stuff!).

Glad that Kathrynn was feeling better and it looks like the girls had a lot of fun!
It was still pretty hot here but we did go to the park for a little while in the morning. When we got home I had the kids all make footprint bumblebees and then they got a chance to paint by themselves while I made lunch.
I’m almost ashamed to admit out activity today was not frugal at all. It was very fun and was on my “bucket list” of activities to do. So I do not regret it. We went to an Eric Carle exhibit where there were lots of interactive activities for the kids, lots of books on display, dress up and storytime. We did get an activity book for each of the kids with admission price, so we will have fun another day with those activities and being frugal.
Earlier this week, our frugal activity was putting baking soda on a cookie sheet. Then taking colored vinegar and dropping it on the baking soda with droppers. Lots of fun 🙂

It was so hot today that we escaped the heat AND the bugs by going to the library. We were the only ones there and had a lot of fun playing games and looking for books. It’s one of our favorite places.
You can also take straws and blow the paint on the paper. Put the paint in a shallow dish, put the straw in the dish and your paper on top of the dish. It makes great designs. 🙂
We used to do this when I taught preschool. We called them “bubble prints.” The colored bubbles looked pretty foaming up in the dish too. 🙂
I bet Silas would love to paint with hot wheels. My boys use to love that when they were little. Take a tray put the paper inside it (that way the cars can’t skid off the paper) Put a bit of watered down paint in a shallow flat dish or lid, and then let him roll the tire of his cars in it! My boys loved it. When he is done dump the cars in a sink full of soapy water, rinse and set in the sun for a bit to dry. To test that they are completely clean run them over a paper towel or light colored rag to make sure no color comes out!

The kiddos enjoyed some baby pool time with Daddy! I do believe I have to little fishes for kiddos. They LOVE the water!

The bubble painting looks great-we must try this over the summer.
We did the peanut butter playdough (with flour), “painting” the house with water outside, the girls baked cookies for my hubby’s lunch, and sandbox time with water, always a favorite. Seemed like everyone needed a lot to keep busy today!
Today was our first nice weather day in a while so we were able to get outside. We planted some vegetable seeds in our garden, some flower seeds in pots and picked a couple raspberries that were ripe. Our dogs even enjoyed getting out in the sun.
I am glad your daughter is feeling better.

I took my three kids to a frugal movie today. Our movie theatre does $2 kids’ movies on Tuesday and Weds. mornings. Parents are free! It was the first time we’ve tried it out, and the first time my almost 5-year old went to the movies. So for $6 we had a nice morning outing. Our afternoon was filled with gymnastics and swim team.

My little run was still running a fever and it’s been stormy out so we had another relaxed day of reading books and then I brought up there pop up tent and some tunnels and we had lots of fun! The last two days have been filled with lots of imaginary fun!!!
That looks like a lot of fun, but I always notice your kids don’t wear an apron. My kids would have that all over them, so we normally resort to doing everything in ‘painting shirts’. Do you just Shout your kid’s clothes every night?
We sometimes do aprons, but normally they seem like they are more hassle than help, so we just use Shout as needed.

There are some great paint smocks at Ikea super cheap and cover much more then most smocks. they are long sleeve and longer in the body. I LOVE them!!
We have (and love) the Ikea smocks!
We have these and they are also great to use instead of bibs when the kids are older but still really messy eaters!
