I’m so excited to be traveling to Virginia with my husband and daughter in June to speak at the 29th Annual Virginia Homeschool Convention. I’ve long heard amazing things about this convention so I can’t wait to go and see it for myself — and to hopefully have the opportunity to meet many of you, too!

The Virginia Homeschool Convention will be held June 7, 8, and 9, 2012 at the Richmond Convention Center. There will be more than 140 workshops on a plethora of subjects, a Transcript Boot Camp, a special needs track, an intensive two-day Film Camp, a Children’s Program, and much more.

Plus, there will be a vendor hall with more than 340 booths of resources and a giant used curriculum sale. You’ll find wide variety of books, curricula, DVDs, puzzles, educational games, Christian enrichment materials, and more!

I’m scheduled to give the following five workshops:

• How to Cut Your Grocery Bill in Half
• Advanced Couponing Techniques
• 25 Ways to Significantly Lower Your Grocery Bill Without Clipping Coupons
• I’d Throw in the Towel–If Only I Could Find a Clean One
• Becoming a Work-At-Home Mom Without Losing Your Sanity

We’ll also have a booth and we’d love to have you stop by and say hello, if you have a chance. Getting to meet readers in real-life is one of my very favorite things in all the world.

Since I know you all love the word “free” I thought I’d mention that qualifying parents of preschoolers can attend the conference completely free. A few weeks ago, a really big box showed up.

Guess what was inside? A gorgeous hand painted wall hanging by Carmen Guedez. And it matched perfectly with our main floor living area decor.

It matched so perfectly, in fact, that you’d think I would have had it commissioned or something. But the funny thing is, I knew nothing about the fact that Carmen Guedez was sending me a wall hanging to review.

You see, Amy sets up the giveaways that run on my blog and she works directly with the companies to decide what will be best for my readers. In most cases, they send a review item for me ahead of time.

Oftentimes, a company will ask me to choose an item to review. But sometimes, a company will just send an item of their choosing. So a surprise box will just show up with a review item in it, which is what happened this time around.

So I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the contents of the surprise box: Carmen Guedez had picked the absolute perfect wall-hanging to send and I promptly fell in love with it.

It’s just perfect, so beautifully done, and matches our family’s style to a tee.

E-Licious is an e-cookbook with over 45 delicious recipes for number of occasions — from backyard barbecues and weeknight meals to crockpot meals and date nights — it covers a wide variety of occasions. Each recipe has a scrumptious-looking photo to accompany it, too. The recipes included things like Strawberry Spongecake, Chicken Divan, Shrimp stir-fry, and many more!

I did want to note that a number of the recipes called for mixes and creamed soup. You could definitely make your own replacements for these, but since I know some of you prefer to eat a whole foods diet, I wanted to mention that. In addition, many of the recipes looked like they would be quite high in calories and fat. (Why is it that most of the best recipes are like that?!)
