Have you tried the crockpot refried beans recipe before? We’ve tried several, and none of them so far has had enough flavor. Just curious what you think about this one.

Here’s what’s on our menu plan this week:

      I haven’t; it’s new to me!

Crystal, I use this recipe quite often, and love it!

I just ad in some chili powder and paprika. Very flavourful, and so so good!

          Thanks so much!

I add an onion, couple of cloves of garlic and oregano to my crockpot beans and a ham hock or ham ends. Unequalled for flavor.

I don’t usually do the menu planning thing until I go shopping. I find I save a lot of money by eating what I buy rather than buying to eat. I also find it varies our menus a good deal, as well as adding a good bit of fresh foods to our diet. That said, I can tell you that we’re doing the following this week:
    Dinners -
    *tuna casserole
    *vegetarian alfredo
    *chicken and biscuits
*steaks and roasted veggies (potatoes, onions, peppers and mushrooms)
    *baked salmon, rice and salad

    Lunches –
    *subs – cold cuts, veggies
    *scrambled egg sandwiches
    *soup
    *leftovers
    *grilled cheese
(We always have fruit, granola, yogurt, etc. on hand to round out lunches)

    Breakfasts -
    *granola and yogurt ” parfaits”
    *cinnamon toast
    *applesauce muffins
    *some sort of breakfast cake
    *leftover cake or muffins

I would love to know what kind of fruit you serve? Is it canned or fresh? I tend to serve veggies at dinner but my kids aren’ t big veggie eaters. Imagine that! I think fruit will be better since they love fruit.

    • Stephanie March 04, 2013 at 08:21 pm

Frozen fruit (allow it to thaw a little bit) is great to serve with dinner too. We buy a big bag that has mango, pineapple, strawberries, and peaches. I use it to round out dinner and the kids love it. Sometimes I’ll make a little “dressing” of cream cheese with a little bit of sugar and milk to pour on top of the fruit.

      • emily March 05, 2013 at 06:43 am

That sounds so good Stephanie. I will add that to my menu this week. I know my kids will love it. :)

  • jennifer March 04, 2013 at 07:26 pm

We’re eating all vegetarian meals Monday-Thursday so we have Indian bean soup with homemade chapatis, kale salad, corn soup, pasta with snap peas, kale and coconut with brown rice, boiled eggs & hummus for snacks!

  • Shelly March 04, 2013 at 07:28 pm

I will be making a few freezer meals this week. Along with a crockpot meal too. I also made some mini corn muffins for the freezer.

We’re staying at my in-law’s this week, courtesy of a broken furnace. Our menu includes lots of meals I could grab from the freezer.

You will love the energy bites, I think! I have made that recipe about 4 times since she posted it, and we love it. (Even my hubby who’s sometimes picky about stuff like that.) Hope you like them as much as we do!

It’s going to be a busy week, so we’ve got a pretty simple menu!

Made the Spaghizza this weekend for a church dinner…. my husband was very disappointed we brought home a completely empty dish! Guess I’ll be making it again very soon! :)

Hi there! I’m Andrea from Pennies & Pancakes.
I just wanted to pop in to say thank you for sharing my Crockpot Refried Beans recipe. I love ‘em! I also had a chance to check out your site (hadn’t been here previously… which makes me feel TOTALLY left out). I love everything you’ve got going on here, and will definitely be back.
