Yesterday’s Target Shopping Trip

by Crystal on May 02, 2012

The children and I went to Target after they finished all their homeschool projects and chores yesterday. Target is one of their very favorite places to go and they are always looking for paid chores to do throughout the week so that they can have money to spend when we go to Target. :)

Here’s what I bought:

1 Neutrogena Lip Balm — $2.49, used $2/1 Neutrogena cosmetics coupon = $0.49 after coupon

2 Reach Floss — $0.97 each, used 2 $1/1 Reach coupons = free after coupons

2 packages of GE lightbulbs — $2.79 each, used 2 $2/1 coupons = $0.79 each after coupons (our store didn’t carry the lightbulbs that would have been free after coupons)

2 packages of Barilla pasta — on sale for $1.16 each, used 2 $1/1 Barilla coupons = $0.16 each after coupons

4 bananas (for Freezer-Friendly Banana Bread) — $0.91

Total with tax: $3.48

I wonder if my sister would be willing to go to Target (she is away at college and has a Target there) I never see 60W lightbulbs anymore! They are our favorite.

I too went to target yesterday and scored Pantene pro-v shampoo and conditioner, 2 revlon eyeshadows, and 2 covergirl eyeshadows and paid $3.07 tax and all. I used a combo of target printable, coupons.com, newspaper coupons and target beauty bag coupons.

I bought some “red band” bananas at Smart & Final on Monday for .39/lb! I’m gonna make some banana bread too – woot! woot!

I got the two free floss, too. The lady at the register tried to tell me that I couldn’t use both coupons because it said, “one per purchase” on the coupon. I explained that I could use one per item and eventually, after manager approval, it went through. What does the “one per purchase” mean again, in case this happens again?

All coupons say this. It means that you can only use one manufacturer’s coupon per item purchased. So if you purchase two items, you can use two manufacturer’s coupons.

I realized that Target is offering a $2 off Garnier product coupon this week (http://coupons.target.com/beauty-coupons). If you requested the free Garnier moisturizing sample from Wal-Mart recently they included a $2 manufacturer coupon with the sample. I got a Garnier moisturizing product for $4 off (the cheapest moisturizer at my store was $6.99, so you could potentially pay $3 for the product)!

I tried to use the $2 Neutrogena cosmetic coupon today at target on the same lip balm you bought and the computer rejected it and the cashier told me that lip balm is not a cosmetic and it had to be make-up. Ill have to try again with a different cashier. I am quickly learning which cashiers to avoid.

Crystal, I’m wondering how your kids like to spend their own money at Target. The dollar spot? I know it’s a big hit with my youngest.
