Super Savings Saturday

After being so terribly sick last week, I didn’t get out much this week because I was still recovering and trying to get my home back in order (it’s amazing how quickly things can go downhill when Mom is down and out!).

Kaitlynn and I made a quick trip to the health food store while Grandma was over and watching Kathrynne and Silas. Here’s what we picked up:

After coupons, we spent $8.10 for all that! Nothing beats bargains on organic produce and high-quality meat!

I’m headed out this morning to go to a Ziploc House Party my friend is hosting and then Kathrynne and I are off to Dillon’s to pick up more groceries. I’ll post an update later on today with the deals we were able to find.

Crystal,

I live in your area. What health food store do you go to? I’ve always wanted to check out a health food store, but confess I feel a little intimidated. Not sure why.

Elizabeth March 27, 2010 at 9:08 pm

I also live in the area and have wondered the same thing…

Jennifer March 27, 2010 at 9:56 am

I think that’s awesome that your little girl could go to the store FOR you! LOL at your little typo there. I can’t wait until I can send my kids to do errands for me :)

Crystal March 27, 2010 at 3:10 pm

@Jennifer, Yes, I got home and realized I’d left out a couple words on that sentence! Oops! Um, I’m looking forward to the day when I can send my child to the store for me. But that’s going to be quite a few years yet! :)

Where do you get organic coupons? I’ve had a hard time find any!

Crystal March 27, 2010 at 3:11 pm

@Misty, I often find coupons for organic items at the health food store. There are also a surprising number of printables as well–which I post here when I find them.

I’m glad you’re starting to feel better! Thanks to you, my hubby and I are starting on Dave Ramsey’s plan today! We’re hoping to wrap up Baby Step 1 quickly and really start attacking Baby Step 2!

Marie March 27, 2010 at 11:55 am

@Jaime, You’re life is going to change forever (in a good way)! I wish you well. We’ve been widdling away at our plan for 3 1/2 years and finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is so worth it! Good luck!

I am constantly amazed by all these ladies who follow in your footsteps. I just started clipping coupons and checking deals and was proud of myself for saving 50% on my groceries this week. But wow! Some of you go shopping and don’t even spend any money. That’s some kind of magic!

Tina March 27, 2010 at 11:46 am

Wow, that’s amazing to get the Horizon organic milk for only $.99! The regular price for a half gallon Horizon milk in my neighborhood grocery stores is $3.59!

FishMama March 27, 2010 at 12:13 pm

I love it that Kaitlynn is such an independent little girl. Shopping already! Like mother, like daughter. ;)

Crystal March 27, 2010 at 3:11 pm

@FishMama, Yes, her mama needs to learn to PROOFREAD her posts before putting them up and leaving for the day. Oops!

Our Target was out of regular Monopoly and Connect 4. They were substituting Toy Story Kerplunk for Connect 4 and still took the Connect 4 coupon. This worked out great for us because the Connect 4 would have gone in the gift closet (for friends and family) but we can use the Toy Story Kerplunk as a gift for our 3 year old. Then they were substituting Monopoly Challenger Edition for regular Monopoly. They let me use the $10 off Electronic Monopoly coupon for this so it was only $3 and it’s usually $19.99! I was quite pleased with myself. We got 4 games for about $14.

I’ve seen a couple posts about Huggies being on clearance for less than $3 at Walgreen’s. I checked my store and they were the $8.99 sale price. Has anyone else found Huggies diapers on clearance at Walgreen’s? If so, what sizes? Thanks! I went to about 6 Walgreen stores a couple weeks ago for the Walgreens brand clearance diapers but the size I needed (3) were never clearanced. :(

Theresa March 27, 2010 at 4:31 pm

@Amy,

At my Wags, they were on an endcap where the “clearance” stuff is usually located. They only had sizes NB, 2 and 4…and only 1 pack of each. I didn’t actually check the price though since we’re only using size 6 and pull ups right now.

Andrea Q March 27, 2010 at 5:28 pm

@Theresa, Our Target had some (N, 1 and 2) Huggies on clearance this morning.

Heather March 28, 2010 at 1:15 pm

Man! I wish there was a health food store like yours near our home. I could rack up. I can’t believe the prices on the items you showed! Amazing! The nearest health food store to us is very very pricey!
