What a great idea!
Even better than shopping the deals, decide how much you would like to spend to support your local food bank and donate that amount in money instead. Food banks often can buy food at lower prices stretching your dollars further. It also helps them buy what they need when they need it, rather than risk donated items going bad. If you want to gather physical items to donate, maybe to help a young child understand what you are doing, consider shopping your own pantry for in date items that your family has determined you won’t use.
Yes! I think all of these options are such great options! We wanted to provide deals for those who would like to donate to food banks that are requesting food donations in addition to monetary donations!
Before donating to a food shelf (which I highly recommend people do), please check if they have a list of things they are most in need of (or give them a call). My husband & I volunteer at a local food shelf & they have so much mac & cheese & snack food (& they are short on healthy cereals).
GREAT tip! Thank you for mentioning that!
Dollar General has some great deals in their 3 day sale, starting 10/30. 3/$3, 4 oz Idahoan instant potatoes, 2/$1 condensed Clover Valley soup, and 2/$2 canned pumpkin. Can be combined with $5 off $25 digital coupon on Saturday, to save an extra 20%. I am considering using that sale to purchase some items for our local food pantry. HTH someone.
Thank you so much for sharing these deals!
