I read 40 books in 2024. While that was my lowest number of books read in a year in a long while, I’m going to celebrate it because there were a lot of things I chose to prioritize over reading this past year. And 40 books in a year is still nothing to be disappointed about. Plus, I read some really great books!
Tomorrow, I’ll share my top 4 reads from 2024, but today I’m sharing the list of all the books I read…

Memoir: Out of the Depths, Sunlight Burning at Midnight, Nothing is Wasted, Still Standing, Resilient, Saving My Assassin
Spiritual Inspiration: Through the Eyes of the Lion, The House That Jesus Built, I Want God, Words With God, The Gift of Limitations, Liturgy of the Ordinary
Motherhood Books: Unlimited Motherhood, Expect Something Beautiful, Habits For a Sacred Home

Fiction: Only the Beautiful, The Women, The Warsaw Sisters
Devotionals: Car Line Mom, Momma Moments with God, Embraced
Read aloud to the kids: Little House in the Big Woods, Farmer Boy, The Biggest Story Bible Storybook

Nonfiction: Slow Growth Equals Strong Roots, Really Very Crunchy, House Rules, The Unplugged Hours
Business: From Strength to Strength, Slow Productivity, Win at Work – Succeed At Life
Christian Nonfiction: You Are Not Behind, When Doing it All Is Undoing You, Fighting for Family, Lovin’ With Grit and Grace, Life is Messy – God is Good, Now and Not Yet, Tired of Being Tired

Not shown because I just finished them: Reconnected and The Hope of Heaven
I finished both of these on our trip to Kansas for Christmas so I didn’t get them shown in the pictures I took before we left!

Speaking of which, this was my first year to keep all the books I read on a bookshelf. Usually I donate or give away most books after I read them, but this year I thought it would be fun to keep them so I can see a visual reminder of everything I had read this year. Here’s my bookshelf with all the books!
Do you know how many books you finished in 2024? Have you set any reading goals for 2025?
Tomorrow, I’ll share my top 4 reads from 2024 (any guesses which books I’ll choose??) and then on Monday, I’ll share the books I plan to read in January!

I would love to see you read more fiction in 2025
Me, too! If you have great recommendations, let me know! I usually only read fiction at night or on the weekends (I read nonfiction in the mornings as part of my Bible reading time), and this past year I chose to spend that time doing other things so that’s why I read very little fiction. But I love reading fiction… and am hoping that my unplugged evenings goal is going to help facilitate a lot more evening and weekend reading!
I read 52, excluding devotionals for Sunday school/self and kid read—aloud books. I love that you include those, and I’m planning to track those for 2025, too! It will help keep me on track, especially for what I read to the kiddos.
Way to go!!
My guess is the unplugged hours as a top one. My goal was 40 and will end around 63, way more than the last few years.
Great guess and that’s amazing that you are ending at 63!!
I’ve read 230 books this year. I didn’t quite make my goal of 250, which is about average for me. I plan on mixing it up next year and being more intentional about reading more non-fiction.
That’s amazing!!
My goal was 75 and I’ve got 100 pages left on my 75th book. I can do it!! I plan to keep my goal set at 75.
Woohoo!!!!
Thanks for this blog. You encouraged me to order two books and start the year off right with Bible study and reading instead of scrolling.
YAY! I’m so grateful!
So far I’ve finished 123 books in 2024. I’m setting a goal of 100 for 2025.
That’s amazing!
So fun to see what you read. We have similar tastes in books. I only read 21 books this year! But I am also in school full time. And I also started but didn’t finish a number of books. I have such limited time to read that I have to be more picky. I’m looking forward to reading more memoirs, some of my favorites.
My favorite book of the year was probably Becoming Elizabeth Elliot. Fav fiction was The Women. Looking forward to seeing what your top reads were!
I have the Elizabeth Elliot books on my stack and hope to get to them this year!
