I’m inspired now for the kids only community garage sale even that I am participating in in a couple of weeks.

We do it differently. We donate our excess items to charity and get a tax donation receipt. Thanks to our donations, we saved over $2,000 on our federal tax bill! (we donated over $8k of items to charities). My street doesn’t get much traffic and when we’re done with something, we want it gone, not sitting around for six or ten months until it’s yard sale season.

This was a really great post and has inspired me to keep going through out items and selling them on craigslist, Ebay and my local children’s sale that is coming up. I have sold on Ebay for 4 years now and I would highly recomment using Ebay as a way to sell things. I recently started selling an abundance of items on there and have sold almost 300.00 worth of items in 2 weeks! I am also tired of having too many things. Thank you for this wonderful post!

Planning a yard sale, I hope I can make at least $100. Going to donate half of my proceeds to March of Dimes!

Some easy ways to make extra money:
1.You can buy empty ink cartridges on ebay for around $0.25 each and recycle them at Office supply stores like Staples,Office depot and Officemax. Each store allows recycling of 10-20 cartridges/month and pays $2/each cartridge recycled. You need to sign up for the rewards program in store. If you are planning on doing this check out their websites about the program as some stores have spending requirements before you can cash in the rewards.
I tried to explain as clearly as I can.Feel free to ask any questions.
Recycling at Staples and Office depot gives me an extra $720 an year.
2.Sites like Newegg.com,staples and office depot have many Free After Rebate Softwares from time to time. This requires spending money upfront but you get your money back in the form of a check in 6-8 weeks. You can sell the softwares on ebay for a profit of $20 on each item. Norton and Kaspersky items sell really good on ebay.
3.Swagbucks is great. And make sure you redeem your points for $5 Amazon.com Gift cards and nothing else.It gives the best value.
I will post again if I can think of anything else.Hope this helps some one.

Man, I wish I had some extra stuff to sell, but we don’t have enough things that we need right now. Our house is so tiny that we don’t even have tables; we eat off our laps. We could really use the extra money right now, too 🙁

Thanks, really need to hear this once and a while to get motivated! We have been “piling” things for a rummage next month and it doesn’t look fun to go back and organize and price it all-BUT we do need the $ with my husbands hours being cut back and it being our only income. I hope we make a good amount to help with our emergency fund too!
Thanks for all the great posts lately!

We’re doing a massive purge right now, inspired by Simplicity Parenting, which I’m working my way through. We’re going to hold a yardsale in a few weeks, but I’ve been listing the stuff that’s worth a bit more on Ebay and Craigslist a few pieces at a time for a few weeks now, and we’ve made enough to replace the bedding in our room. It feels great!

This is just what I needed! We just started FPU this past Sunday and on the way home after church, my husband and I discussed how we would come up with our $1,000 emergency fund quickly. So, thanks so much for sharing this one…you just never know who needs what/when, but God does!
