Want to see what we bought for this week’s $70 grocery budget? I’m currently challenging myself to stick with a $70 budget for our family (two adults, two teenagers, one preteen, and two babies*). This includes almost all of our breakfasts, lunch for Jesse and me (the kids have lunches at school most days), snacks, and dinners + most household products (toiletries, laundry soap, etc.).
For live updates, be sure to follow my Instagram Stories. See all posts on my $70 Grocery Budget here.
*Note: Champ’s formula is currently being covered by the state since he’s in foster care. Kierstyn is nursing, but we are supplementing with formula each day since my supply is low despite all my efforts to increase it. We have a separate budget for her formula. We also haven’t bought any diapers because friends have been so generous and have gifted us with so many diapers that we haven’t had to buy any yet! We may change the budget in the near future as the babies get older and their needs change. We’ll see!
We’ve been slowly introducing the babies to solid foods. Kierstyn has quickly caught on and absolutely LOVES eating table food. In fact, if she sees someone eating, she makes it quite clear that she would like some of whatever it is we are eating. 🙂
I only went to Kroger once this past week — and I only spent half the grocery budget. I plan to spend the rest this coming week, provided I find some great deals to stock up on!

We love to cut up the peppers in strips and eat them like chips for a snack!
I still can’t believe those huge bags of candy were just $1.30 each! I have been using them as rewards for the kids + enjoying a few myself each day! 😉
We ate a lot of eggs this week — including French Toast for dinner one night, scrambled eggs and toast for Sunday lunch, and hard boiled eggs with my salads for lunch.
She loves the yogurt tubes — even if she does make quite the mess! 😉

I’m always surprised that your family is not going through a gallon of milk a day. As my kids got older we almost went through 2 gallons of milk a day. I also like to have two vegetables plus potatoes or rice with the main entree. With fresh vegetables and fruit, I go through $50/week just for me.

Agree on the milk! I have three kids (and a husband that LOVES milk and oreos for a bedtime snack) and we go through a gallon of milk in about 2-3 days. I count diapers, paper products and cleaning supplies (so basically everything I buy at a grocery store) and struggle to keep it at out $200-250 budget for every two weeks. The price on those eggs is so awesome! I go to Kroger frequently and rarely see good mark downs! 😭

Ha! I’m surprised, too! We now routinely go through a gallon every 5 days and we will go through one in 3 days if I have a bunch of cereal deals… but I guess because we don’t drink milk and only use it on cereal and in baking, we just don’t grow through it as quickly!
