I’m trying to determine a minimum annual profit that makes it worthwhile to sell online, so your thought process about price points (in different posts) is especially interesting.
It is rare to see business permits or licenses, federal/state/local income taxes, liability insurance and Social Security payments even mentioned in a post about earning money from home, craft sales or online. Yet, these considerations also add time and expense.
Whether a person seeks ways to meet their regular household expenses, to handle a special event, or to create extra value by building savings, retirement and investments; your personal writing style makes the goal feel obtainable. Thank you for sharing so much helpful information.
This is fantastic! I love that you’re preparing to downsize.
We’re working on downsizing our belongings and simplifying our lives. I’m blogging about it each week in my Simplify Saturday series at EverydayMindfulLiving.com.
I’d love to see some posts on what you decide to keep.
I love this post and needed it right now!!! We have a business and I am always downsizing at home and for our business. Great tips.
2 years ago I set a goal to fully fund our DisneyWorld trip with money I made on Facebook, Craigslist, consignment stoes and eBay. I earned $2000 in 6 months. It was a lot of work but well worth it.
I’m starting a new declutter right now and have already made $309 since Jan. 1, starting small because it is cold here and meeting people is challenging. But itching to get going as soon as it warms up a bit.
I find that I can do this about every 2 years with the kids going into new stages, the old stuff has to go.
In December I was trying to figure out how to sell my homeschooling stuff. The homeschooling store was not going to give much so I started looking for other ways. I ended up finding out about FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon). I thought I would try it–you just package your items and ship them to Amazon’s warehouse where Amazon ships them out once they are sold. It has ended up being such a blessing–a true answer to my pray for a job in which I can stay at home. (I have a daughter with a mental illness and a husband who travels 90% of the time so I need to be home to be available for my daughter. Medical bills are very high so this extra money will help with that.)
My first month I did quite well (I ended up getting a deal on computers and sold them with my homeschooling stuff). I am also a couponer so I am using those skills to buy items at a good price and reselling them. Problem now is I see potential items to sell everywhere (good problem to have).
Good job! I don’t buy much to begin with, so I don’t have much to sell. What I am done with is usually worn out so much I won’t get much for it. I do have a handful of things I purchased and should have returned, but never did, so I will try to sell those things, but it is just a very few items.
I second this! Not much to sell her, because we don’t buy much to begin with. Especially kids’ toys. If my 8 yr old and 4 yr old can’t pick it up or take care of it themselves, it doesn’t stay in the house!
I was thinking the same thing. I don’t have anything to sell! She had a ton of really great items and it’s great that she was able to get so much for them. I don’t spend money buying all those things, so I won’t make money selling things. My 3 boys break or wear out any clothes or toys they have, and I just never bought “stuff” for our home that I don’t use.
I’m also blogging about this as well, part of my No-Spending Month Challeneg! This week will be a different way to sell each day this week, and today was Facebook Local Group Day! http://theladyprefers2save.com/?p=11780
