I was excited about the seltzer water and cheese deals at Kroger this week!
There weren’t that many produce markdowns, but I picked up all three of these bags and was especially excited about a few marked down avocados!
There was a lot of marked down meat, but it was mostly more expensive than I’ll pay — even for marked down meat. Though I was excited about the Instant Pot meal for $4.99!
The bread cart was pretty empty, but I did grab a loaf of Garlic Bread to pair with Ziti + some rolls.
My total for all these groceries was a little over $67.
That bagged salad was SO good!
I remembered the Morning Glory Muffins the other day (anyone remember those — I haven’t made them in a long time!)
I didn’t have all of the ingredients, but I substituted a few things. And the the final result was delicious!
Sweet Kierstyn was trying to help me make scrambled eggs for breakfast… and accidentally pulled the carton off the counter. She just stood there in shock while we tried to keep a straight face and praise her for trying to take initiative and help!

I miss having a Kroger (It was Payless when I lived in Indiana.)! I would shop the marked-down produce when it was available. The marked-down meats usually were put out first thing in the morning, so it was hard to find deals when I was working. There was also a Fresh Thyme Market that I used to shop for specials too.
We have 2 Aldi’s in town (WV) and a Save-a-Lot. Martin’s Foods is offering the Flashfoods App. A friend told me about it. The only drawback is that the foods are usually close to the expiration date. I haven’t bought anything through the app yet. They’re the only grocery in my area using this app
There’s a LIDL in my hometown about 25 miles away. I got a gallon of whole milk for $1.43 this weekend. It’s similar to Aldi – I think it was a brother of the person who started Aldi’s that founded this company.

I’ve heard really great things about LIDL! I’ve always wanted to go into one to check it out — and hope I get to someday soon!

I’ve been struggling with my grocery budget for awhile and just recently had a revelation (though I’ve heard it often) to be very serious about using up leftovers, figuring out how to repurpose and reserve them with the other items I have in freezer and pantry. Then I go to the fliers and markdowns. This has made such a huge difference and it’s been so fun! I think this is how you shop? Before I used to try use up leftovers, but a lot would end up going to waste. Meanwhile when I sat down to write a grocery list, I would think what do I want to cook this week? And then go buy food at top dollar. This new way is saving me so much money and it’s exciting to see the deals I get each week! Thanks for showing us your grocery hauls!

YES!! Reverse meal planning requires more creativity and a willingness to eat what you have and what’s on sale instead of just whatever sounds good, but it saves us SO much money! Way to go! I’m cheering for you!
