Want to save money on toilet paper? Here are five tips for you:
1. Buy in bulk from Costco.
If you have a Costco membership, your Costco offers good every day prices on toilet paper. The Kirkland brand of toilet paper should be around $15.99 for 30 rolls — which comes out to $0.01 per square foot.
2. Pair coupons with sales at the grocery store.
Walgreens, Kroger, CVS, Target, and more stores often have great sales on toilet paper. You can pair those sales with printable coupons to make it an even better deal.
3. Buy from Amazon.
We often post great deals on toilet paper available on Amazon. These usually last for only a day or two, so you’ll want to jump on them when you see them posted here. (By the way, if you want to save more, sign up for Swagbucks and earn free Amazon gift cards.)
4. Don’t be brand loyal.
While I know some people are very picky about toilet paper, if you can base your choice of which toilet paper to buy on the price rather than on the brand, you’re going to save a lot of money.
5. Don’t use as much.
This is a simple tip that works with pretty much everything. Learn to use less and you’ll save money!
6. Try cloth toilet paper… just kidding. 🙂
Yes, some people do actually save money by using cloth toilet paper… but personally, I might be frugal, but I’m not that frugal. But more power to you if you are! 😉

Our family uses a bidet system and keeps cloths on hand for drying. I just throw them in with regular laundry. It’s no big deal whatsoever, since the water is used to clean up first.
The bidet costed us maybe $50 on Amazon and attaches to our toilet. For us, it’s not just for money savings, it’s for better cleanliness. After we got used to the bidet, using dry paper alone doesn’t feel sufficient. We went back to toilet paper for a few months after moving to a new house and my husband complained a lot about having to use toilet paper. I’ve also tried using toilet paper to dry off after using the bidet and it just doesn’t work as well as having a cloth to dry off with, because the paper tends to disintegrate some when it comes in contact with water.
We do keep toilet paper around for guests, but our bidet system cuts our toilet paper purchases by 90%!

I trick I was taught is to flatten the cardboard tube inside the roll. It keeps the roll from rolling to fast when pulled.

I do penny shopping at Dollar General.

You have to do the math. Compare # of sheets per roll and # of rolls per pack. One brand may look like a good deal until you see that their rolls are 2/3 of another brand. Coupons, coupons, coupons. Sales too.

I used to use coupons matched to sales at drug stores but since my children are all out of diapers, I am no longer compelled to shop drug stores. 🙂 Now, I either buy from Aldi or go to Dollar General on a Saturday with a sale, the digital $5/25 coupon and whatever digital coupons match up. The Dollar General is just a few minutes from my house so it works for me. I usually buy a few big packs so it lasts until the next sale. I get my total to $25 by buying some laundry supplies, my store brand Zyrtec, paper towels, or other odds and ends.

LOL! My parents used the cushy kind of TP. Ever since I married over 38 years ago we’ve used the 1,000 sheet single ply. My dad used to bring his own TP when they visited us. Two children gone from home- one uses the 1,000 sheet single ply in her own home, and her brother comes home and complains about our rough TP- he needs to do what Grandpop used to do- bring his own. On the other hand when we visit my mil we take our 1,000 sheet single ply because we do not like her cushy TP.

That’s so funny! 🙂

We use off brand 1,000 sheets rolls from Walmart. I think Aldi carries it too. The rolls last so much longer and we have so many less clogs and plumbing problems. Yes, you might have to use a little more at times because it is thin but it has been worth it for our family.

Thanks so much for that tip!

I use cloth tp – for #1 only – and I don’t expect anyone else in my family to use it lol. But, it’s good for the budget and even better for the environment! I just throw them in a small lingerie bag that I have hanging in the closet and wash with my regular laundry. I’ve been doing this for YEARS and never had one problem with it!

Ha, I was going to say use cloth wipes! But if you are already washing cloth diapers, it’s no big deal. (and yes I know it’s over the top frugal for most people, but we have toilet paper , too, it does cut down on the TP usage, though!, guests are welcome to use TP, or anyone else, by choice).
