Someone asked over at my site, Home Ec @ Home, “how do you make these without a bread machine?” When my old bread machine quit working, I came up with a way to make bread machine bread stick dough without a bread machine. Here is the recipe: http://www.homeecathome.com/the-home-economist/how-to-make-bread-machine-breadsticks-without-a-bread-machine
I then found a replacement bread machine in a thrift store for $6.99. I have been using it for over a year and it has done a wonderful job.

Thank you so much Crystal for posting my recipe!
Take your “Raw” hotdog and wipe it dry with clean towel or paper towel. Wrap in your bread dough (homemade/bread machine/frozen -now thawed from the store) . Don’t make it too think. 2lb bread dough makes approx 14-15. Don’t bother letting them rise again. Bake on a greased sheet until breal is golden. Eat. Cool and freeze. Kids dunk them in ketchup and mustard. Husband splits it open and does the traditional fillings. I also wrap string cheese and ham slices. They need to be sealed really well and are a bit tricker, but fussy kid #4 will eat these and not hot dogs. They also freeze ok if I can ever get them to the freezer fast enough.
Forgot to mention: You can grill the hotdogs first if you want that flavor. Have made these with cooked bratwurst and cooked Italian sausage. They are all good.
I love this idea. I do a lot of our bread baking, but for some reason never thought of looking for this. Considering we go through 14 hot dog buns if we eat hot dogs or brats I should have. Silly me. Thank you so much for posting.
I would imagine I could do this for hamburger buns, too…
Yum, looks delicious! I’ll have to try these.
