I just went to CVS and did my Pantene deal. My only snag was that there was only one bottle of the shampoo that I use so I bought 3 that my husband will use.
4 Pantene Shampoo
4 Pantene Conditioner
3 Dawn Dish Soap
1 Kit Kat Minis
Coupons used: 4 BOGO Pantene which max deducted $4.99, 2 $2/2 Pantene, 3 $0.25 off Dawn, 1 $2.5o CVS Kit Kat, 1 $0.25 Manf Kit Kat and $5 ECBS. I paid $3.51 including tax and received $10 ECBs. I actually ended with a small profit! Although I’d seen posts indicating that the BOGO Pantene coupon may max deduct, I didn’t expect it so I was very happy with my deal. 🙂

I do not live any where near CVS and not sure I have ever been to one 🙂
I will be near one the week after this near Chicago….suggestions of how to get a good deal without ever having shopped there and probably not going to shop there again anytime soon? Is it worth looking at an ad when I get there and trying o match with my printed coupons?
Bobbi says
Ahh, I haven’t figured out how to do this yet. The coupon machine doesn’t give me these good coupons and by the time I realize I could use the $4/$20 coupon it has expired a few days ago. It takes me too long to figure out these kind of transactions! I bought 2 papers so I have all the manufacturer coupons, but can’t figure out how to match up the store coupons to get the items so cheap/free. A few weeks I’ve tried different things the store is out of all the products I wanted. I’ve only been going to CVS for about a month though, so maybe I just need to keep at it? This is so impressive though! Way to go! (o:

check with your store, some CVS’s let u use ‘expired’ MCM coupons/ECB anyway. one store by my house does it all the time, no issues – another one will not. so worth a shot! 🙂
Christine says
I don’t understand how she used a $3/$15 AND a $4/$20 when her total before coupons didn’t equal at least $35… I would think you could only use one of them? Anybody else understand this?
Krafty Momma says
I was actually VERY surprised to see this as well. All $ off a certain $ amount coupons I’ve been getting from the Magic Coupon Machine have said “Not valid with any other $ off $ amount” so I’ve had to do separate transactions to make them work.
Kudos to Gretchen for having her CVS accept these, but I would not expect to go to CVS and duplicate the transaction.
Patrina says
the 3/15 is for shampoo and hair care products. The 4/20 is off the order total. You can use more than one $$/$$ coupons as long as they are for specific items mentioned on the coupon. These generally only print form the coupon machine. The other day i used a 3/10 oral care and a 4/20 purchase for example. Hope that helps. CVS can be a bit confussing to figure out, but once you do, it is well worth it!

It must depend on the cashier and how empowered they are to override. A few weeks ago I had $5/$20 Huggies and $5/$20, the register would not allow both coupons until my subtotal reached $40. The coupons could be used in the same transaction but both thresholds had to be met without overlap. Gretchen must get really lucky with her cashiers because I have seen several posts where they let her stack coupons that most cashiers would veto. Good for her.
Krafty Momma says
Thanks, Kelly! I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that would have issues with this transaction. I’m glad it works for Gretchen, though.
Jamie says
That’s incorrect. The total still has to be $35 before any coupons/ecb to use both coupons. BOTH $ amounts have to be met. You can verify that with CVS customer service, if needed. The cashier should not have allowed this and it’s incorrect usage. The total would need to be $35, of which $15 is shampoo/conditioner.
Gretchen says
The $3/$15 was $3 off if you spent $15 or more on shampoo/conditioner so I was allowed to use it with the $4/$20. I hope that makes sense.
Patrina says
Hah..we responded at the same time. Awesome trip. Are both the dawn and cover girl included in the Pand G special?
Gretchen says
Yes, they both are included. 🙂

You can combine a CVS Coupon ($3 off $15 shampoo or conditioner) and the $4 off $20 (i think it is treated as ExtracareBucks). You can have a manufacturer coupon(one per item), a cvs coupon and extracarebucks in the same transaction. Below is a link of CVS coupons policy I found: http://www.cvs.com/bizcontent/general/help/coupon-policy.pdf
ShoppingFool says
You can combine them, but they beep because your subtotal needs to be $35 or higher. If you have a jedi cashier, then it’s no problem because they understand why they can be combined. If not, you may end up pretty disappointed b/c they deny you(and I believe each store has the power to do so) or frustrated trying to explain the concept to someone who just cannot quite understand.
joyce says
doesn’t your $4/$20 coupon say that it is not valid for sale items? if so, how did you get the eye shadow? i usually don’t end up using those emailed coupons, because there are never enough things i could buy to end up making it a money-saving deal instead of a money-waster (similar to amy’s frustration in the above comment)
Amie says
You can use the emailed $x/$xx on sale items. It is the percent off coupons that can not be used on sale items. 🙂
Melissa says
so i guess it was really like $2.20 oop, since $12 ecb were used (bringing it down to $2, since she got back $10). great deal!! 🙂
Crystal says
She’ll count the $10 ECBs toward next week’s purchases… so it’s not being counted twice so that the out-of-pocket posted is the literal out-of-pocket.
{I hope that makes sense! It can get confusing with the ECBs and when you count them and what counts as “out-of-pocket” :)}
Melissa says
yea, it can sure get confusing! 🙂 especially when u follow a blogger. but just in thinking about this deal by itself, if i were to go out and do that, it’d cost me $12.20 or just $2.20 if i already had $10 ECB to roll (keeping that $10 worth, “free”). but i know what u mean 🙂 it’s pretty confusing trying to relate to my friends & family my deals too with the whole “rolling” factor and rewards. but it’s great fun to get great deals! 😉
ShoppingFool says
I do the same thing, it’s not the $10 I count, but the $2 that didn’t come back. Thankfully my family is very on board with our couponing(of course the fact that they get a lot of free things might be the cause there…LOL)
Kimber says
I agree – I count it the same way as well. But it all works out, as long as we’re sticking to our budgets. 🙂
Amy R says
I just cannot figure this out! This never seems to work for me. I always end up spending money on things I don’t really need to make some super “deal” work. Then, inevitably, I get a hard time at the register. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Amazing!

Great job! I went to CVS today and thought I did pretty well – $48 down to $21, plus I have $8 in EB to use for next time.
