It’s Day 6 of the Get Up Early Challenge and today officially kicks off Week 2, Day 1 of the challenge (since we took the weekend off)!
I was asleep by 9:45 pm last night and woke up a few minutes before my 5 am alarm this morning! I think my body is starting to embrace this early to bed, early to rise schedule again!
I just finished reading God’s Word, journaling my blessings, reading the second to last chapter of It’s Not What You Think (a book that has been very thought-provoking — even if I’ve not agreed with all of it), and getting in some cardio on the treadmill.
Oh and coffee. Of course, coffee. One of the best parts of the morning! 😉
I’ll be hopping on Periscope at 7:30 a.m. to share some Morning Motivation encouragement and to some thoughts and insights from The 5AM Miracle book. I’d love for you to join me or watch the replay (just download the app and search for @MoneySavingMom).
Are you joining me for the Get Up Early Challenge? If so, leave a comment on this post to let me know how you did with your wake-up goal this morning.
We’re in this together… And if you didn’t hit your goal, that’s okay! Give yourself grace, don’t beat yourself up, and know that you can try again tomorrow!

Thursday and Friday I did great at got up as soon as my alarm went off. I even got up at 6:30 on Sunday. However, by the end of the day, I wasn’t feeling very well so I made the executive decision to sleep in today, so I got up at 8am. It worked out good, though, because both my husband and my son slept in so I still had my time for my morning schedule. 🙂

I’m not sure if I just need a new habit or if I really require a lot of sleep. I can easily sleep 8+ hours every night consistently and there’s still no getting out of bed early. Even the multiple alarms I manage to turn off in a haze and continue sleeping. Help! Suggestions? Also, we have older kids so there’s no way I can get to bed at 9….

I need more sleep on the winter too. I’ve had great success buying a $3 outlet timer at Walmart and plugging my lamp into it. It turns on my lamp at my desired wake up time which helps a lot in the cold dark winter!

I’ve actually kept the same wake up time (5:30) during the week end. I work on Saturdays (until lunch), so my week end doesn’t officially start until 12:30 pm on Saturday. As for Sunday, my oldest son had a fencing competition, so we had to leave the house by 8 am anyway. I admit to a looong nap on Sunday afternoon that felt awfully nice as I’m still recovering from a cold. Today up at 5:30. The temperatures have descended below zero, so it’s not easy to motivate oneself with the darkness outside. But I love this quiet time: hot tea, writing, reading and taking a short walk. The whole day afterwards goes much smoother§ So much so that I think about pushing it up to 5:15. Which would mean 9:45 pm in bed …I’ll aim for this tonight.

Today was my first morning of getting up before 6 (at 5:40) so I could exercise. Tomorrow I’m going to push it back to 5:30, which I think is where I will leave it. 🙂

Today is a vacation day (I’m a teacher), so I enjoyed sleeping in a bit later. Up by 6:20, though. I’ve cleaned the house already and am now set to write!

My husband is working a job this week that has him up at 4:00 a.m., so I ended up getting up at the same time. Got the woodstove shoveled out and then going again, loaded the dishwasher (yikes, don’t remember why I didn’t do it last night), and finished writing my 500 words a little earlier than usual. Nice!

Wow, I’m a big fan of the early morning slot, but this 5am craze (which I seem to be hearing about more and more) is scarily early!! Well done on your success so far! I might aim for 6am and see how I get on. I’ll be following your blog more closely from now on (I hopped on over here from a link on A Fine Parent) and I look forward to learning more great tips. Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂

I agree! I get up at 5 for work 3 days a week so i like to use my other 4 to get a little more sleep, however I think 6am would be a reasonable time. I need to work on going to bed early CONSISTENTLY. I was in bed ay 930 last night and slept until 9am. My body was tired from a bad sleep the previous night. :/

Up at 5:30am. 30 minutes of devotions with my hubby, packed his lunch and wrote out his scripture card for the day, exercised, all before 7:30am.

Up at 5:45 a.m., which is late for us. The 2 rescue terriers woke us, no alarm. Computer time, shower, breakfast.
I don’t do my in-hand reading until after the sun starts coming in the skylights. I prefer the natural light to the artificial light, it is better for my vision.

I up with a fussy baby but grateful for once she slept longer than 4 hours. Devotions done, fire built to warm house, breakfast muffins on the counter to thaw and soon treadmill once I can get her back to sleep. Hope for at least 2 more hours of peace before the rest of the littles wake up.

I got up on my first alarm this am!!! Finished last nights dishes (could do them last night bc of Downton Abbey) and I’ve cleaned the microwave- and done my devotions and written a to-do list!! All before 7am:)
