After a month-long sabbatical from Freezer Cooking, FishMama and I are planning another big Once-A-Month Cooking session this weekend and we’d love to have you join us. The official dates of the Freezer Cooking Days are January 29 through February 2, 2010. However, we’re big on being flexible, so you can cook and bake whenever you’d like.
I’ll have a link-up on Friday for you to share your Freezer Cooking Day plans and recipes. On Monday, you can follow along here with my cooking adventures as I share pictures and recipes of my Freezer Cooking Day. And then on Tuesday, you can come back to link-up your accomplishments and pictures.
Whether you just double and freeze a casserole or two, or make 30 meals, you’re welcome to join in! Sign up on our Facebook event page if you’ll be playing along. Also, be sure to follow along on twitter, using the hashtag #oamc. This time around, we also have some fun giveaways planned!
If you’re new here and wondering what these Freezer Cooking Days are all about, you can check out past cooking day entries here.
I’ll try to join. this is my first time attempting this. With a baby due in May i’d like to have some stocked up for then. At least get some ideas and practice.
I am going to try joining in. I have my list ready and going to hit the stores today. Hopefully, my body will cooperate. I am 61/2 mo pregnant. So hopefully it will hold out on me.
I’m going to try to squeeze in some cooking even though I will be busy this weekend: http://www.jsknowlton.blogspot.com.
I did my cooking last week due to the holiday and not having to work, but I will definitely post with you all!!!! I just got through making my list for next month 🙂
I think I’ll join in this time. Will you also be doing the giveaways on your website? I don’t participate in facebook or twiter. But I always follow your blog.
My husband and I are planning on joining in for the first time this month. We aren’t doing a whole month’s worth of food, but enough for those nights that we just don’t feel like cooking.
I’d love some new ideas for freezer meal recipes. I feel like I’ve worn out my “same old, same old” casserole recipes!!
I am in… I will have to plan it now… go shopping over the weekend and cook on Monday and Tuesday… I can’t wait!
Thanks for the encouragement!
I will be joining in! I have actually already been cooking this week and I have my freezer cooking menu posted!!!

I definitely plan on joining in! Will you be posting what you plan to make ahead of time? I sometimes have a hard time decideing what to make so that I can get the most out of my ingrediants. Keep up the awesome work!
I’m looking forward to it! I have a lot of cooking/baking planned for the weekend.
A few months ago, I started a meal swap with a moms group I’m in. We each make four (4-6 servings) of one meal that can be frozen. Then we get together and swap. It’s much easier than making several different meals for your freezer because you can just make a couple of double batches of one recipe, and you don’t end up with a lot of leftover ingredients that you can’t use in anything else. We love it!
I’m going to jump in and try this. I just bought a freezer this past week on craigslist so that I could start freezing some meals as well as have extra space for grocery deals. I’m going to read your past entries on freezer cooking and come up with a game plan. With a 5 month old at home, I’ll have to play it by ear.
Just curious as to when you guys have you meals plan ready for freezer day. I noticed you are putting everything out tomorrow – which give us only 2 days to plan on shopping. Is there are way to get stuff up & running a week before? This way if there is something on the list we need to change we can change the menu accordingly. Plus we can keep an eye on deals. Just a thought – thanks!!
i’m in….:)
I am so there…after we empty our freezer a bit from the side of a cow we purchased! LOL Maybe I will catch up next up when we have whittled away an alcove in the upright. Thanks so much for your blog!
Though I won’t be following along, I give you all a lot of credit for taking on this task. I personally don’t like to cook, so spending a day in the kitchen to cook is a stressful thought (ironically, my computer is in the kitchen! LOL).
I will add this thought though – every year around Thanksgiving, we manage to acquire two free turkeys. One is used for the holiday, the other is saved for January/February when our budget is tight because of the energy bills. Last Sunday, I cooked the other turkey and then de-boned the entire thing…separating the light meat from the dark when I packaged it up. My family has eaten on it for days and this morning I took the rest of the light meat and froze it in 2 convenient packages to pull out for dinners. The dark meat I’m saving to use for 2 casseroles sometime in the coming month.
Other than buying large quantities of meat when it’s on sale, that’s the extent of my freezing meals. 😉
Best of luck to you!
