I just wanted to add about this program:
I downloaded part 1 & part 2 of this program about a year & a half back b/c they had a special where they were running it free for like 2 weeks or something. I had already used the “Teach Your Child to Read with 100 Easy Lessons” book to teach one child & was in the process of using it with another child, and this program was created by one of the authors of that book, so I really wanted it. I got it, used part 1 (lessons 1-40) last year, and am just about through with part 2 this year. My daughter just turned 7, 1st grader, and she has excellent reading skills (we homeschool). She now reads on about a 3rd or 4th grade level. I know it may not work for some children, but I can’t tell you how much I appreciated this FREE program. The book that I mentioned is wonderful, too, and I plan to use it, and the free programs, to teach my last child to read soon (she just turned 4).
Just wanted to let you know that the time it takes to download it is worth every second, for sure.
I’m guessing they don’t have a tablet version?
I haven’t opened the programs yet, but I have downloaded and installed to my desktop lessons 1-40 and 41-120, and have downloaded the PDF workbook and teacher’s book that goes along with them with no problems at all. And, as I type this, I’m 77% finished downloading Funnix2. I’ve already saved the PDF of stories that goes with this. And I haven’t seen anything related to having to pay for any of it yet. I see that some have mentioned you have to purchase Funnix2, but there was a link for it in my email that has a promo URL.
Also, when you sign up for it, you choose Windows or Mac, and it lists the Windows OS that are compatible. I have Windows 7 (64 bit) and haven’t experienced any problems at all, and they’re not downloaded as zip files as far as I can tell. Not sure why it’s doing that to some people.
Just as a note, it’s just 120 lessons for the reading program that comes with for free. It’s 220 for the reading program + the funnix 2 program, which is the package you buy. Still a good deal being free, but just wanted to clarify.
I had problems loading too at first, but I was finally able to get it to load after about the 3rd try. I think the main thing is just to be patient and let it load… it does take a while, but the downloads eventually started! 🙂 (There are 2 lessons 1-40 on one, and 41-120 on another.)
Thanks for the clarification!
I had to try a bunch of times to get the pages to load and then it took several tries to get it to completely download. If it gives a message about choosing another location on your computer to install then it did not download the whole thing. Try again. Funnix offers this for troubleshooting http://funnix.com/funnix2006/troubleshooting4.htm
I got it fine, but when it goes to RUN it says that the publisher could not be verified and asks if I’m sure I want to run it. Has anyone else done the whole thing with no problems?
The page isn’t loading for me. :/
I got online…it just took a long time. Thank you!
I was having the same problem with the page not loading but it looks like everything is back up and running! 🙂
I couldn’t get the page to load either.
I cannot get the page to load. Do you know of any problems?
I did find it hilarious that a program to teach my child to read had the following link:
“Click here for to get your free copy.” (emphasis mine)
I guess I should just be happy it’s not a grammar program! 🙂
I saw that and thought the exact same thing 🙂
Our 4 and 3 year olds love this program!
