I only have a balcony, so a couple of years ago I made a very tiny water table with 2 plastic bins–one upside-down as a stand for the one holding the water. When not in use, the water-play items fit nicely inside for storage. (My only wish is that I could have found deeper bins so this would be taller, but it works.)

I love this idea. I’m in Texas and it’s so hot I know my daughter and her friends will love playing in this and even I can make it!
We already started buying the materials for this little project. My husband said he could put it together in a few hours. This would make a great gift idea too.
Just an FYI- I was searching the web for plans to build one of these and came across a site that said under-the-bed storage boxes fit perfectly in Radio Flyer wagons. It’s the truth! If you’ve already got both, you have a portable DIY water table for free.
My idea isn’t quite as nice looking. I used my kid’s old infant bath tub. I stuck it on a patio table and threw some toys in with the water. I was going to donate it, but I keep it around for my kid’s to play with. I’ve filled it with beans and rice too.
I think that is a great idea and a great way to re-purpose something you use for such a short amount of time!
