I made some like these for Christmas this year. They were so simple. I work with a bunch of guys in Construction. It was a perfect gift for them!!
I make large ones with the deer corn for bed warmers; four minutes in the microwave, and they stay warm all night!
How long do these stay warm once you heat them?
=) I live with a large one slung around my neck!
My daughter and I made these over the weekend. She had a great time filling in the rice! This was an easy, fun project and they really work!
If you are going to make a bunch of them for hand/foot warmers, buy feed corn at the feed store…you don’t need nearly as much to fill them and it works very well…and smells better than the rice does. BUT, if you want them for a cold pack, I think rice works better…have to admit that I made a ton of these for a craft bazaar (fail!) so I’ve tossed a bunch in the freezer and they’ve been great for my recent shoulder surgery and for my husband’s recent wrist sprain.
I agree with Susan. I used deer corn for mine & it keeps them warmer longer.
I agree, I used deer corn as well. But make sure you put the corn in the freezer for three days or so. That will keep any weevil eggs from hatching later. (I speak from experience. Ick.)
I made some last month with a couple of wool sweaters that I felted. These are easy enough for young kids to make for themselves. 🙂
