    Now to just find some of these sights that don’t use canned soups etc. Us gluten free people cannot use that stuff, nor do I want to use food that is so processed!

        You can easily sub for the soup if you like the recipe. Use half heavy cream and half chicken stock instead of the can of cream of chicken. Less processed and gluten free!

          @Ann, thank you for that tip! I have been frustrated as well with the number of recipes that call for the canned soups. We don’t eat them because my son can’t have them. Now I feel like I can look at some again 🙂

      I agree about the ingredients. One of the few recipes I was able to read involved canned soups, which alone is not an issue for me, but usually is an indicator of less-than-optimal recipe quality. I’m a good cook and I don’t want to make something just because it was easy – I want it to taste really good too. Another recipe called for simmer chicken breast on low for 6-8 hours – even if they were frozen to start with, they’d be rubber at the end of that cooking time. Not so easy if no one eats it. And the tortilla soup recipe – no spices, just broth and veggies. Slow cooker cooking can be so much more than this ladies!

      Now that I’ve finished my rant: I really do appreciate the work put into coordinating the menus and grocery lists. And taking all the photos. That’s a big job – in addition to all the cooking and shopping. For new cooks, this could be a great stepping stone to better cooking. The popularity of the subject is evident in the number of hits being so large that your site couldn’t handle the traffic. Congrats on that! I would just really like to see a list of slow cooker recipes that are more inspiring.

    Those recipes would take me longer than 2 hours. I do NOT buy pre cut onions or veggies. that’s too expensive.
    Plus, Chicken and dumplin’s isn’t that hard to make on the stove. Typically, I cook chicken in the oven while watching tv or playing with children . Better yet in the crock pot over night and freeze for later. Later pull it out, add stock, can of soup, and cut up biscuits. It would be done in less than 15 minutes.

    I have found making these “prepackaged” meals do not save me time. It takes the same amount of time to throw it in the pot as it would to package it. (in my opinion)

    Now making lasagna, meatloaf, breakfast burritos, beans, muffins, or soups do save me time to assemble and/or bake and freeze

    I guess what makes you happy……. 🙂
