Since I was under-budget last week, I decided to go ahead and take advantage of a decent sale on ground beef this week. I try to stretch ground beef as much as possible (or mix it with turkey), so this will probably last us for around 6 weeks. I also couldn’t pass up buying more cheese for that price. 🙂

I noticed that you have veggies and dip. Do you buy your dip or do you have a dip recipe that you like? I often do carrot sticks and/or broccoli with ranch dressing as a lunch side. As always, I enjoy seeing your recipes and shopping trips. 🙂
I love watching how u shop, wish some of kids would try this.
Its just my hubby & I now, but I still coupon & pick up story sales, and watch the ads.
Thanx for sharing all ur hard work & great recipe ideas!!!
Did I overlook but I didn’t see the 2 dozen eggs in the picture?
I always end up spending so much more when you add the necessary
items like milk, eggs, vegetables, etc… I have not ever seen cheese for that price without coupons either. We don’t have a Harris Teeter in the south.
They are on the far left in the top pic – kind of squished in. 🙂 Harris Teeter regularly runs that price on cheese, but I always panic and think it might be the last time. 🙂 Hands down, it is a MUCH cheaper price than other stores (including Aldi) for cheese!
I’m sooo jealous of your grocery prices. 🙂
Awesome deals. I know I’ve commented before on the hand soap. Just wanted to say I make liquid soap out of bar soap really easily. I get bar soap so cheap with deals. I grate two bars of soap and boil them down in a stock pot of water. Then I let it sit overnight. It will gel if you use real soap. Then I use my immersion blender to make it smooth. I dump it into old containers and this lasts me a really long time. Just wondered if you have ever done this.
I need to try this again, and do it your way. The one time I tried it, it turned out ok, but a little stringey/goopey (not sure how to describe it, but the consistency was “off” a little). We used it, but it wasn’t my favorite. I hated paying money for soap this week, but we needed it (it would have been free if I would have had the insert coupon – but we were out of town that week and I didn’t buy a paper. Sniff.)
You will have to let me know how it goes with your soap making. I haven’t bought liquid hand soap for my family for a few years. I do understand though. There are some things that I don’t do that others do. I just wanted to say how much of an inspiration that yourself and your two sisters have been to me. I work full time in a stressful work environment. I commute 44 miles each way to work and have two little ones at home. Sometimes I don’t want to be frugal. I do however understand the need to get my ridiculous amount of student loans payed off. I also want to enjoy life later on. It’s quite the balance some days. 🙂 I appreciate everything that Crystal does with her blog and the grocery posts you and Gretchen put in. Helps me stay focused on my goals in life.
Oh wow!! That is a long commute, and must be SO difficult to balance work with being a mom. AND trying to save money/pay off loans. It sounds like you are doing a fabulous job, and being so wise to think ahead to the future years. I KNOW that everything you are doing WILL pay off! I really appreciate your encouragement to ME as well!! I will keep you posted on the soap making… Thanks for the inspiration!
