I’m excited and oh-so-ready to get back into regular meal-planning, grocery shopping, and couponing after spending the last few months slightly less organized! Lots and lots of travelling, health issues and sickness have made a regular schedule almost impossible, but I *think* I see the light at the end of the tunnel – and I’m ready to try again. 🙂
Zaycon
I absolutely love Zaycon! I buy all of our boneless, skinless chicken breasts there, and have always been very pleased. I’ve also been happy with Zaycon‘s ground beef, and I am planning on trying their whole chickens (new!), as well as boneless chicken thighs when they are offered in my area soon (Have any of you tried either of these yet?). It’s much easier than grocery shopping as it is quick, and I never even have to get out of my car! It does take some work once I get home to bag and freeze the meat since it comes fresh and in large quantities – but at this price, for this quality – I can do a little packaging work! 🙂

I too am loving Zaycon! I wrote a post about it as well. I discovered Zaycon a few weeks ago and I am in love. Fresh Chicken at $1.69/lb is an awesome deal here in Missouri! The next time they will have the boneless skinless chicken here is in Feb. I am hoping to get a box of it! This not only saves So much time but money too! It really is amazing how many meals you can make with 40 lbs of chicken. If you were to break down the amount of chicken you buy each money at $2 or more a pound this is amazing savings, I love to take a day to cook and prepare most of the chicken and then freeze for easier and quicker dinners! Thank you for sharing.
Can you tell us more about your beef experience? Like how much and quantities, etc? Thanks!
I’ve only gotten the ground beef (they also offer steaks) which is grass-fed, grain finished (which is actually the case for most beef that is advertised as “grass-fed”). They offer either 80/20 or 93/7, depending on what you prefer. They both come (only) in 40lb boxes, divided into 4 10-lb chubs. I divide the “chubs” into 10 equal pieces and freeze in 1-lb pkgs. You can always split a box with a friend if you don’t want that much meat. 🙂 Hope this helps!
Does Zaycon sell free range, antibiotic free chicken? I couldn’t find out for certain on their website, but I only looked around for a few minutes.

That’s the only info they give about it, and I don’t know any more. You could always just call them and ask!
I’ve heard so many good things about Zaycon. Unfortunately the nearest location to me is 75 miles away. 🙁
How much time in advance do you typically order it? I looked in my area for chicken, and next time for chicken thighs was 4 months away and breasts 5 months.
I usually order a month or so in advance. Chicken breasts are only offered 3 or so times a year in my area, and they usually don’t sell out until 1-2 weeks before the pick-up date. I’m sure it varies by the area.
It looks like there isn’t any skin or fat in the pictures. Does it come like that or did you trim it up after you got it home?
Donna
There is no skin, and almost no fat at all! In that whole 40lbs of meat, I trimmed off 6 or 7 very tiny pieces of fat (altogether they wouldn’t have even filled up the palm of my hand). It really is 40lbs of MEAT, instead of 38lbs of meat and 2lbs of fat. 🙂
I’m picking up our Zaycon order next week! It is a lot of work to package everything up to freeze, but it’s SO worth it.
That’s exactly how I feel. 🙂
Thank you for sharing about Zaycon. I decided to try it after you have talked about it before and I LOVE it! I pick up my next shipment of chicken on Wednesday (I haven’t tried anything besides the boneless skinless chicken breasts). It is great quality chicken. Now I just need to try the oven fried chicken recipe.
Also, to anyone that is interested they email out different codes and do lots of deals so that you can get it cheaper then the $1.69 lb BUT that is still a great price. I have paid less then $1.69 both times I have ordered cause they had a deal/coupon code.
Yes! I guess I didn’t mention that, but that’s another great zaycon perk! Thanks for the reminder!!
Oh, YAY! This makes me so happy! 🙂 Thanks for letting me know!
