Wow– those prices are amazing! Nice job! Nice to see healthier/ fresh foods in your meals….quite often I see blogs like this and the meals consist of only processed foods & meals based solely around pasta or rice. Thanks!
This is amazing! After my trip to Walmart this evening and spending over $250 for a family of 5 I decided to must make some changes. I will be incorporating these into my routine and definitely switching to Aldi.
Thank you for sharing!
Every little bit counts, so even just making a change or two can add up and be less overwhelming! Good for you!
I was wondering what you used the limes for…. just curious 🙂
I use them in Mexican dishes (taco salad), use them in my homemade salad dressings, flavor smoothies with them, and squeeze them in seltzer water with ice and a little stevia and it becomes a healthier fizzy limemade. 🙂
Thank you for sharing! It would be more helpful if the quantities were listed too. How many ounces were the the cartons of blueberries? How much and what kind of oil did you buy? I want to be able to compare apples to apples. If your blueberry carton is a different size than mine, but the same price, I won’t know. If you’re buying virgin olive oil, grape seed oil or corn oil that helps me to compare the price.
I love getting fresh produce from the neighbors! That’s great!
Thank you!
Good to know!! I usually include specific amounts, but wasn’t sure if readers were as number-oriented as me. 🙂 So will include them in the future! The canola oil is 48oz cartons, and the blueberries were pint size containers (2 cups each). Let me know if you have other questions.
Thank you!
I try to keep my cost for cold cereal down to 10 cents/ounce, but some people think that $1/box is good. But if that box is only 8 ounces, it’s going over my price. AND if that cereal is full of sugar, forget it. I know you understand.
Without coupons, I feed my family of seven at home for about $350-500/month. This depends on a lot of factors. Did I make my own bread, get it free at church or get it for $1.49/2 lb. loaf at the outlet?
Do you have target prices? Also called stock up prices?
Sounds like you do fabulous at feeding your family healthy foods while keeping your costs low! And yes, I definitely have target prices.:)
Great deal on the bread products. Any tips on how to freeze bread? I have read that you keep the product in it’s original package. I tried this once and had to throw out the buns due to freezer burn. How long can you keep the product in the freezer? Thank you!
We will go through this amount in about 6 weeks, so it won’t be in the freezer that long. Have you tried freezing in ziploc freezer bags instead?
Great price on the cauliflower. I discovered a great cauliflower recipe last week called cauliflower casserole. You can google it, but it’s pretty easy. You just steam up your cauliflower (not too much, you still want it a little firm). Then, in a separate pan with a little olive oil or butter, you saute some chopped onions with bell pepper (you won’t believe how good bell pepper tastes with cauliflower) and a little garlic, if you prefer. Then, in a third pan, you make a roux with butter and flour, cook it down, whisk in a cup and a half (about) of warmed milk, let boil till thick, then add in your shredded cheddar cheese to make your cheese sauce. Add some salt and pepper and paprika if you like. Mix the chopped cauliflower, onions and bell pepper, and cheese sauce in a large bowl, then put it in a greased 9×11 casserole dish and bake it off for 30 minutes at 325.
Oh yum! Sounds delicious – thanks for sharing. 🙂
Great job! Could you tell me what bakery outlet you go to?
Thank you!

I know how to meal plan. I know I need to meal plan. But somehow it never gets done. Thanks for always sharing Brigette’s plans. With school starting next week for us (I homeschool our 5 boys) I MUST have a plan! Seeing this tonight has inspired me!
5 boys AND you homeschool??? Just reading that makes me tired.:) I only have 3 boys, and two children in homeschool, so you are my hero!
Your comment made my day! 🙂 It’s only by God’s grace and help!
When I get extra bread,I make bread pudding and add my own twist and it is great for breakfast or as a snack.
Take 2 packs of those buns or any old bread or biscuits you have around to equal appx 8 cups of crumbs. process in food processor until crumbly. Add 1 cup of sugar, 3 eggs, 1/2 cup raisins, 1/2 cup coconut, 1 tsp vanilla and enough milk to get it good and moist. Pour in a greased pan and bake at 350 until brown. I add a powder sugar glaze on top. If you have any apples or pears sometimes I chop one or two of those real fine and add. I have also added a small can of fruit cocktail drained.
Oh yum! Thanks for the recipe!!! Sounds delicious. 🙂
Can’t believe how low these good prices are- even our Aldi’s prices here in NY on the same items are much higher!!!
Having lived different places in the US and overseas, I realize that things ARE cheaper here (but not milk :)). Our gas prices have been mostly under $3/gallon for months now!
I don’t see the lettuce/ spinach listed in the totals. Not mentioned to be nitpicky, but I am very curious about Aldi’s prices for these items.
You are right! And that’s really weird, because I remember typing them in, and I double – checked # of items listed with # of items in picture. I did have some photo issues, and my husband went in and re-entered them in for me, so something must have gotten deleted at the last minute. ANYWAY – I pay $1.99 for the 3 ct romaine, and $1.29 for spinach, which are the regular Aldi prices. They do go on sale for cheaper, but not this week. 🙂
Oh awesome, those prices are great! ,I really need to check out Aldi. 🙂
That is sure a lot of food for the money! Great job!
Thanks! I was especially happy about the cheap bread. 🙂
Your menu looks so good to me. I will be making the grilled hobo packets in the oven. I always keep kielbasa on hand and I love the idea of having a new recipe to use it in. My kids we’re enjoy making these.
Oh yay! I hope you like them! My kids enjoy helping put them together too.
