Brigette, I always enjoy these posts so much! And I love your recipe posts. I hope they’ll become more frequent once again. I know everyone loves this blog for different reasons, but your posts are why I keep coming back. (I love that there’s such a variety here to look at!) I so easily get stuck in a rut with our menus so it’s great to gets some new ideas from you! (And Gretchen when hers are posted). 🙂
Thank you so much for your sweet, encouraging comments! You totally made my day! As far as recipe posts, I really hope to start doing some of those again. I guess I keep waiting for some creative wave of inspiration to strike me when I am in the kitchen…instead of feeling like I am in survival mode all the time (guess I need to read Crystal’s book again! ;)) But…just knowing that someone enjoys recipe posts may help motivate me!
Brigette, I think any mother of small children is in survival mode at some point and for some of us that season stretches on a bit longer than others. Seems my prayer these days, is “give us this day our daily bread”….not tomorrow’s, not next week’s, just today’s. Kinda how the children of Israel were to only gather the manna they needed for right then. Anyway, that’s how I think of it. Graçe for now, provision for now, strength for the next moment and just take it a moment at a time. Do the next thing. Ya know? I’m expecting our 8th child now and struggling through the 1st trimester nausea while homeschooling and caring for preemie twins who are 8months old. Although we are thankful and very blessed, I’m certainly in survival mode, and have been for quite awhile (I will have 8 and my oldest will be 9! Gives me palpitations just typing that!) But God has been teaching me just to take it a moment at a time. It isn’t easy and it isn’t fun sometimes, and it isn’t quite what I would’ve chosen, but God is using these “in the trenches” years to draw me closer to a Him. 🙂 Well, I certainly never meant to write a novel of a comment. Tee hee! Anyway, I look forward to your posts and your recipes whenever you’re able (and I’m sure many others do as well) but I certainly understand why it wouldn’t be a top priority at the time. 🙂 Blessings to you and yours! 🙂
Just…wow. You have my utmost respect and admiration! I hope you have a good support system in your extended family/church. 🙂 I am exhausted just reading your post- and really wish we lived close and could chat over coffee (or tea, or whatever you drink ;)). I think there is so much I could learn from you! It sounds like God has given you an amazing amount of grace and strength! I can’t even imagine living your life (8 month old preemies and expecting?? Plus 5 others and homeschooling?? When do you sleep??!!), but obviously God has enabled you to do what He has called you to. Thank you SO much for sharing what you did!
I love this! I try to follow Brigette’s grocery list and menu every week. This can be a challenge because food in my area isn’t always priced as reasonably so I might substitute here and there in an attempt to keep prices down. Plus, we don’t always like the menu items so I’ll slip in items we do like but I always try at least one of her recipes every week.
Thank you Bridget.
You are welcome! Thanks so much for taking time to leave such a nice comment – and it makes me really happy to know that you read these posts and try some of the recipes! Thank YOU!
Fabulous job once again–and full of great ideas to copy…thank you for taking the time to do this for all of us!!
Awww – thanks! Thanks for taking time to read it, and I am SO glad for any ideas you are able to get. 🙂
The link for the “Green Rice Casserole” is not working and I’d love to have the recipe! Thanks!

Bridgette, do you find that your shopping habits changed a little with using ibotta and not able to use it at Aldi? And if so, how do you use ibotta so that you are not overspending?
No. I don’t use ibotta much at all – don’t really care for it, and don’t check it before I go shopping. Once I get home, I look at the offers and see if I “happened” to buy something ibotta is offering a rebate for. I definitely don’t go out of my way to purchase ibotta things, though. But that’s just me. 🙂 I have several good friends who earn back ALOT of money using ibotta and LOVE it!
