Feeling weary, burned out, and just plain worn down today? I wrote a post over on The Better Mom that you need to read. It’s on 10 Practical Ways to Stay Energized as a Mom.
Most of these tips are applicable to anyone — even if you’re not a mom. By the way, some of you are going to think I’m crazy for #10, but I dare you to try it! 🙂

I love these! #1 & #10 are my favorite! Thanks for the reminder to slow down and evaluate why I feel the way I do. I appreciate it!

Nice post. Getting regular exercise and eating well are key for me. This past weekend I finally did what I keep saying I’ll do and I made a big batch of lasagna and a Crock Pot full of chicken and rice and now there is actual food in the fridge to heat up for meals. It is energizing, when one is crashing toward a large deadline, to have hot chicken and rice for lunch instead of a PB&J or having to waste time going to get something.

I never comment but this was good and so true. It’s the simple things like combing your hair or chatting with a friend. Some days dinner would not get cooked if I didn’t turn up the music and sing out loud 🙂

I just had baby number 3 and am exhausted. I forgot how tiring newborns are. Probably won’t be doing the get up early one, lol (although I understand what you are saying!). 😉

I thought for sure you would say to drink a big fruit and veggie smoothie for a pick me up. 🙂

As for #10–I highly recommend it. I bring my music with me when I dry my hair in the morning. I turn it up loud…with the loud music, the hairdryer going and me singing at the top of my lungs—talk about joyful noise :-p !!! I get my praise on then I am ready to face the day!

I use to do number #10 a lot when the kids were little and still some now too! usually at dinner time, which for me is my low energy period of the day. The kids and I will crank up a favorite song and all sing and dance to it, as I get us ready to eat. It really does work. I also find sometimes the best energy booster for me is to take 15 to 20 minutes off put my feet up sip a cup of hot tea and read a magazine, then I am ready to battle the to do list again .

I loved you kind words of encouragement and offer to pray for struggling moms at the end of this article. Thank you for caring so much about your readers!!!

Great article! They are all awesome suggestions! I especially love the shutting off the phone and laptop, I know I need to work on that! I get distracting with other things that really don’t need to be done this instant and only stress myself out more instead of living in the moment with the family! I also loved the idea of swapping off an afternoon with another mom! I am know both moms would fully appreciate an hour or so to themselves once in a while, plus the kids can all entertain one another! ha

Those are all great suggestions, and some things I haven’t thought about in a long time. I had to laugh at number 10. I totally agree! The last time I was in a terrible funk and couldn’t seem to pull out of it, I put on a Broadway CD I hadn’t listened to in a long time and sang as loudly as I could. Worked like a charm!
