Since we all have been home pretty much 24/7 recently self-isolating, we thought it would be fun to do a laid-back family episode for the podcast week. I asked on Instagram what questions you’d love for us to discuss as a family, and you all submitted such great ideas.
In this episode, we talk about:
- Our individual pet peeves (and Jesse schools us on the origin of “pet peeve”)
- How the kids feel about fostering
- One tradition the kids loved from when they were younger (their answer totally surprised me!)
- A few favorite family activities while social distancing + favorite board games & a snack we all love
- Whether the kids think they’d like to be homeschooled again
- Some of the kids’ favorite books
- Sibling rivalry — what our kids argue over the most & how they resolve conflict
- Our thoughts and feelings as we look forward to having two newborns soon
- Where we’d like to travel to once it’s safe to travel again — my answer got a little deep and serious (I hadn’t prepped what I was going to say, so it kind of surprised me!)
Pull up a chair and enjoy a sitting in and listening on a very typical dinnertime conversation at our house (well, except I don’t usually come with a long list of questions!)

Hearing all you guys just so made me laugh and smiled which was such a nice blessing right now.
Possible advice – When our twins were born we had a 4 yr old a 2 yr old (so 4 boys 4 and under). Our twins were in the NICU for just a short time and so we had them both on that 4 hr schedule. I know you are currently on the 3 hr one. I would recommend putting the second baby, when it is born, on the same schedule so u can do both at once and then, diaper changes are similar, burping etc. Gives a nice rythm and also you all know what to expect. Have fun 😁
Thanks so much — that’s what we’re hoping for! But we’ll see how it goes and what baby #2 needs!
What an uplifting podcast. Bought tears to my eyes. So hard to make all these readjustments.
Thank you so much for your encouragement! I’m grateful it was a blessing!
I guessed correctly where you would say for travel. It’s what I would say now, too. Take care.
I hadn’t thought about the question ahead of time, but I quickly realized after I asked it to my family, that there’s only one place I’d like to travel right now.
Do you have a list of books the kids like? Boy/girl books?
Any pointers on teaching my kids about the Bible, Sunday school stuff now that church is closed?
I love hearing about your family! Congrats with the two babies😘
I’d recommend seeing what resources your local church is offering — I know ours is providing lots of great resources for parents of young kids!
As far as books, the kids share some of their faves on this podcast!
