This is a bit off-topic, but I'm so excited I just had to share: I had my first appointment at the birth center and got to hear our baby's heartbeat for the first time! After weeks of nausea and fatigue, that was the sweetest, most encouraging noise ever!
After my appointment, we celebrated with free tacos at Taco Bell (did you get yours, too, today?) and then dinner at Jason's Deli. Tuesday evenings kids eat free at Jason's Deli so we got quite the bang for our buck tonight–getting dinner, drinks, and ice cream for less than $14 for all four of us. And then we took two to-go boxes of food home, too!
We are slowly settling into life in our new home and surroundings here. We are so glad to be back in our hometown, but as with all moves, there is a period of adjustment that takes place. With my husband's change in work schedule, I'm still figuring out how to adapt our schedule accordingly. And I'm still re-working where blogging is going to fit into this. It'll all work together eventually, but things are a little rocky right now–which is why I seem to be blogging in fits and starts. I hope to find my "groove" soon, but I appreciate your patience with me in the interim.

Glad to hear all the good news. With so much going on in your life and with your issues, hearing that baby’s healthy heartbeat must have been a great encouragement. We’re all gearing up for the busiest time of the year, so don’t overdo it too soon. Like someone else said, we’ll still be here. We just keep coming back for more!
God bless you,
Merrilee

BTW…love all that you are doing on you here!

That must be so nice to have a birthing center where you live. There aren’t ANY anywhere near me. 🙁

I can relate to the schedule upheaval – it takes time to settle in!
Good job focusing on the positive – hearing that heartbeat never gets old!

Congrats on hearing the heartbeat. How very exciting!

That is great! What a wonderful sound. We heard the heartbeat of our first child a couple weeks ago, also at a birth center. It was wonderful. I’m 12 weeks now.

It’s so wonderful to be able to hear the baby’s heart beating.
Y’all had a great day with very little money spent. Glad you’re home with friends and family!

Question for you: Do all Jason’s Delis do “kids eat free” on Tuesday? Is this a new thing? JD is our favorite place to eat, mainly because my husband has severe hypoglycemia and can only eat at certain places. We go to JD very, very often and have never heard anything about a kids eat free night. Hmmmm… I looked on their website and couldn’t find anything. Thanks!

I’m so happy for you, Crystal! God is good!!
Don’t worry too much about the blogging; we’ll still be here when the dust settles 🙂 Take it easy and be the wife and mom first 🙂

That is the coolest thing in the world, isn’t it? To hear a baby’s heatbeat. It’s been over 10 years since my last pregnancy, but I can still recall that sound.
Sounds like you had a terrific day!
Cathy @ Chief Family Officer says
Congratulations, Crystal! My OB always does ultrasounds, so for me it was seeing the heartbeat that was a huge milestone. (I once asked to hear it and it turned into big deal because he had to go hunt down a doppler, then had some trouble finding the heartbeat – no wonder he always does ultrasounds instead!) I pray that the rest of your pregnancy is as easy as can be!
And good luck with the transition, you certainly seem to be doing well with it, at least from this outsider’s point of view 🙂

Congrats on hearing the heart beat! How many weeks are you now..12? Just a guess!

Isn’t that the most wonderful sound? I can still remember how it sounded. It makes those rough days seem a little easier!

Good luck with adjusting to your new home. I loved hearing the heart beat with each of my 3 kids. As for blogging, it is kind of hard to do with little ones running around. 🙂

That is amazing. I still have our son’s heartbeat on cassette tape from the first time I heard it. What a miracle! Thanks for sharing!
