A book I enjoyed this weekend

The Bronte Plot ebook

I finally had a quiet afternoon to really get into reading The Bronte Plot this weekend. And I truly enjoyed it.

While I didn’t feel like the plot and story engaged me quite like Dear Mr. Knightley did, it engaged me enough that I wanted to keep reading even though I’d planned to take a break and finish a few other projects.

The Bronte Plot is a story of redemption in spite of past mistakes and a story of becoming a victor instead of a victim of our circumstances. It’s a lighter read and I got through it in one afternoon.

I received a pre-release copy of it. The book officially releases on November 3, 2015. You can pre-order the ebook for $4.99 right now.

I also enjoyed Lizzy and Jane and adored Dear Mr. Knightley — both also by this same author. If you read only one book by this author, definitely read Dear Mr. Knightley.

What have you been reading recently? Any great book recommendations for me?

I saw a picture a while back that you posted with Katherine Reay’s new book and I was hoping to hear some feedback! “Lizzy and Jane” is my favorite, but I look forward to reading her newest publication as well!

Last week I read the Storied Life of A.J. Fikry. It was great. I believe I got the recommendation from Modern Mrs. Darcy

I tried to read Interrupted by Jen Hatmaker but I haven’t been able to get into the book like 7 and For the Love. It also could be that I have it from Interlibrary Loan and I’ll be fined $100 if I damage it; thus, I don’t leave it sitting out and available to read for fear my toddler will cover it in crayon or applesauce. I think I’m going to abandon the book. ILL seems to be a Frugal Flog at this library system given the enormous fines.

Yesterday I started reading My Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore and it is very good. And I just got my email notice that Simply Tuesday is (FINALLY) on hold for me at the library! Frugal Success: My library system accepts petitions to purchase books published within the year, and they granted my petition but I did make it six weeks ago or so.

  • I do love Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, so I might need to read this :).

I just finished Glennon Doyle Melton’s Carry On, Warrior: The Power of Embracing Your Messy, Beautiful Life. I loved her vulnerability and perspective on life, parenting and God.

It also helped me to continue on my journey of being real v. a perfectionist, which a lot of your entries have helped me with as well.

I also started Rising Strong, but stopped, so I could read Daring Greatly first. I loved The Gifts of Imperfection, so I can’t wait to see what I learn from these.

I listened to two audiobooks recently and enjoyed them both: Otphan Train by Christina Baker Kline and Sonia Sotomayor’s memoir, My Beloved World. Sotomayor’s book is narrated by Rita Moreno; she’s perfect for it.

Fervent by Priscilla Shirer is an excellent book (and I’m only half way through it)!

Just finished Dear Mr Knightley solely because of your recommendation. Loved it! I’m not sure if I’ll read her others bit enjoyed this one definitely
Next up the new Jan Karon book 🙂
