I know that many of you are very interested in essential oils, so I’m excited to bring you another essential oils giveaway — this time for a doTERRA Introduction Kit courtesy of Stacia Stuart.
This is a great kit for beginners! It includes an introductory audio CD and booklet highlighting the uses of essential oils, and a 5 ml bottle of dōTERRA’s Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint essential oils. There are also suggested uses for the oils included to help jumpstart you on your journey of using essential oils.
I’ve become a huge essential oil fan over the past year (my poor friends have been so patient with me as I’m often whipping out my travel oil bag and saying, “I have an oil for that! Here just try this!” ;)), but I’m not partial to any brand specific brand. In fact, I really like many of the oils from many different brands. However, since we’re talking about doTERRA for this giveaway, my favorite doTERRA oils are:
Elevation — I love to diffuse this oil when I need a pick-me-up.
Whisper — This smells like perfume to me and I wear it as perfume sometimes and people often ask me what brand I’m wearing! Such a great oil for having a calming affect.
OnGuard — Of all the doTERRA and other brands of oils on the market, this one is one of my very favorites and probably one of the ones we use most of all at our house. I never travel without it, either. I have prevented multiple illnesses by rubbing this on the bottoms of my feet when I felt like I was starting to come down with something. I’ve been amazed at how well it seems to work!
Deep Blue — This is a great oil to rub on sore and achy muscles.
DigestZen — This was the oil that turned my husband from essential oil cynic to essential oil convert. If you have an upset stomach or even just feel bloated, you can rub it onto your stomach and it works wonders!
Here are a few of our favorite ways to use essential oils:
- Diffuse them — it’s so fun and mood-boosting to have them wafting through the house!
- Rub them on our feet and then put socks on before we got to bed. I seem to sleep better every time I do this.
- Put a few drops in our Homemade Foaming Hand Soap. Peppermint is especially fun around Christmas time!
- Put a few drops into a warm bath for a relaxing at-home spa experience.

I love DoTerra oils! My favorite is Breathe. I have shortness of breath every time I’m pregnant. I’m currently 23w pregnant. The only thing that seems to help is Breathe. I’ve tried albuterol but it did nothing for me. It starts at 6 weeks and goes away within 6 weeks of delivery. They think its hormones. It gets so bad in the summer that I can’t fold laundry. But Breathe helps me function like a normal human being.
Stacia Stuart says
Molly, That is great! Most oils are safe during pregnancy and nursing! Good point!
Kara says
I have been considering taking the “essential oil plunge” ever since a family member used a DoTerra oil to make my almost-constant headaches go away. We have some deep cough and psoriasis issues and I am wondering if they can be helped with essential oils. It would be lovely to be the winner of this giveaway. Thanks so much!

Essential oils have changed my life! Sounds extreme and dramatic, I know, but if you are ever looking for a “miracle cure”, essential oils are a great thing to try. Deep blue rub has saved my knees after a workout, onguard has saved my family from colds and viruses, and digest zen is the best thing for a sour stomach, or just bad breath from eating onions! Amazing and NO ADVERSE SIDEEFFECTS! I only use DoTerra because it is 100% PURE.
Stacia Stuart says
I can’t help it, I have to comment/agree with you! I agree they are life changing and gifts from the earth. I trust doTERRA’s purity, testing, and quality. They are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils.

Crystal,
Do you put the drops directly on your feet or mix into a carrier oil first? Do you ever ingest any oils orally?
Thanks!
Joy says
My Mother just recently got into essential oils and has been wanting me to try them. I’m interested but cautious of any and all alternative medicinal things because I have severe medical issues. I’m doing my research but so far I do like what I see, just have to be careful with me. 🙂

Would someone be able to tell me why peppermint oil does not help my headaches (migraine/sinus)?
Stacia Stuart says
Are you using doTERRA’s peppermint? I would recommend trying either doTERRA’s Deep Blue or Past Tense essential oil blends! Peppermint helps a lot of my headaches but Past Tense has helped with my hormonal migraines! Different oils work for different body chemistry. The Past Tense and Deep Blue oil blends are in the Home Essentials Enrollment kit!! Happy Oiling! Stacia

Yes, it is DoTerra’s pepermint. Thank you for the help. I do not have sinus problems, only the headaches.

Lana says
Lemongrass is amazing for sinus. We just sniff deeply about 4 times and our sinuses clear. It is also great to diffuse for sinus and coughs. Our two year old grandson spent the night and woke up coughing during the night. We put 3 drops on a cotton ball and put it on the dresser in his room. His cough stopped immediately. A friend has been able to discontinue prescription meds by using lemongrass instead for sinus and migraine such as you describe.
Christine says
Thank you for your help. I do not have sinus problems, just the headaches. I want to try lemongrass now. 🙂
Melissa says
Can someone tell me if there is a difference between essential oils and other scented products in the store? I’m highly sensitive to smells and just a walk down the laundry or candle isle in a store can start my eyes watering and my nose stuffing up. I’m intrigued, Crystal, that you wear some as perfume sometimes! My husband would be over the moon happy if I could wear something. He likes scented things and has graciously put up with my sensitivities. 🙂
domestic diva says
There’s a huge difference between essential oils and the scented stuff you find in the market.
Like you, I can’t use anything with artificial fragrances, or my eyes get red and watery. I only buy Free & clear products for my house. However, because essential oils are natural concentrates and not chemical scents, I can use them without trouble.
The things you see in a store are rarely pure essential oils (they usually say for aromatic use only — not for topical use or ingesting). Pure oils you can use on your skin, diffuse, or even ingest.
I wear Young Living’s Joy as my perfume and I love it. My husband was also thrilled when I started wearing it (I’ve never worn a perfume before).
Amanda@CrunchyHippieLife says
Melissa, some people have reactions to chemical fragrances. doTERRA’s oils are purely plant products. My husband and I didn’t realize we had a sensitivity until after several months using just dT oils for fragrance/cleaning and he bought some Febreeze for a couch our neighbor’s gave us. We had such terrible headaches and some congestion. Once we diffused our oils we felt much better. 🙂
Stacia Stuart says
HI here is an intro. to doTERRA essential oils on my website. They are I hope this helps. Keep reading/clicking around there is a wealth of information. doTERRA essential oils are powerful and have healing properties.
“If you have ever enjoyed the scent of a rose, you’ve experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. These naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils protect plants and play a role in plant pollination. In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and being beautifully fragrant to people, essential oils have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health care practices.” Quoted from : http://www.mydoterra.com/staciastuart/essentialDefinition.html
Also, with sensitive skin here are some safety precautions.

I’m guessing she’ll offer it for a while. Both DoTerra and Young Living offer great introductory packages (DT’s is up there. YL’s includes 11 oils and a diffuser). I have one of each. 🙂

Whisper is used to balance hormones and it is often used a fragrance, too. A friend’s daughter had an interesting experience while wearing Whisper as it does affect those around you. Just saying….it is not a story to tell here 🙂
