Parents, I want you to gather up your kiddos and go read this post with them about a 9-year-old girl who has such a heart for giving and making a difference.
I was touched and motivated by reading it, and I think you will be, too!

Oh law, that girl made me cry!
I know! So, so touching!
What a sweet and generous girl. I’m often shocked by the compassion of children.
In high school, I was a teacher’s aide to second and third graders at my Christian school. I was receiving monthly updates from Voice of the Martyrs and they printed an issue focused on children. One of the kids noticed me reading it in my off time and asked about the pictures. I explained that these children are being punished by evil men for loving Jesus and had to search through the garbage for food and clothes. One boy in the newsletter had to care for his baby sister after his parents were arrested for their faith. He would walk with her all the way down to the only clean water supply in the area, over an hour each way every day. He was about as old as the kids in the class.
After a while, more kids had gathered round and were listening. So I came up with an idea. I brought in an empty soda bottle and told the kids if they wanted to help, they could donate money to help these children buy food, clothes, and medicine. I warned them not to give up their lunch money (I didn’t want any parents yelling at me) but if they had any spare change or allowance, they could give that. I left the bottle in the room for a month and expected to see pennies and nickels. I was shocked to come in each day and discover dollar bills shoved in there. One boy gave up his allowance for an entire month. The class was small. Maybe 10 or 15 kids total. But we collected over $300. I deposited it and sent the check to VOM, explaining where the money came for and what they wanted it used for. VOM wrote back and said they used the funds to buy blankets and medical supplies for an orphanage they run overseas. I told the kids, and some of them had tears in their eyes that they were able to do so much by giving up what they considered to be so little.
Children have such great compassionate hearts. I love hearing about how awesome they can be. 🙂
This is so great! This is so inspiring and I shared the story with my 4-year-old son as well. We need to teach them about giving, sharing and the love for others. Glad to see there are so many great people in the world, and not only this cute little girl, but also her mom who has taught her everything 🙂 Thank you for the post!
How sweet! And wise beyond her years knowing that for some people money is hard but they can still pray! Love the heart of a child!!!
This is so beautiful and humbling and inspiring!
God sent! What a message! And may our Lord continue to bless her! Great post!
