One thing we’ve implemented this year is to be really intentional about spending one-on-one time with each of our children. One way we’re seeking to accomplish this is by setting a goal to take each of them individually on a special outing each month. It’s often something really simple, but the laughter, in-depth talks, shared experiences are what matters most.
When you are with your children individually you often see a different side of them than you see when they are with their siblings and/or other children. And it’s also such a fantastic opportunity to communicate to your child individually how much you love, appreciate, and believe in them — words they need to hear over and over again from you as a parent.
If you are looking for ideas as to special outings to plan with your children, Ashley Pichea has recently released an ebook with Daddy-Daughter Date ideas. This ebook is packed with lots of fun ideas for ways for dads (and moms!) to have special outings with their children. Many of the ideas are free or almost-free and most of the ideas would work for either mom or dad to do with either son or daughter.
Through Wednesday evening at midnight, you can get Ashley Pichea’s new ebook, 51 Frugal Daddy-Daughter Dates, for just $1.50 when you use coupon code 51MSM.

Sounds like a nice Father’s Day gift. Does anyone know if many of the ideas are good for toddlers? Our little girl is 2.5, hoping lots of these ideas are age-appropriate. Thanks!
That’s my sister’s ebook!!! 🙂
When my son was a senior in high school , we had dinner together every Friday just me / his mom and / him. It was awesome he is now 26 and finishing up Medical School he told me just last month, how very special these times were to him. How amazing is that! He also told me on rough weeks he use to think to himself “I just need to make it to Friday” then I get to eat with Mom.
I hope to implement some of those ideas with our own kids one day. 🙂
I would have so loved that as a small child. My father never took me or my brother anywhere. We truly missed a lot of wonderful opportunities to know each other better.
