So, as you probably know by now, I’m typically pretty doubtful of claims made by marketing campaigns. So when I was sent these BluApples that were supposed to keep fruit and vegetables fresher, I was not too confident they would actually work.
However, after keeping them in our fridge for the last month, I’ve been pretty impressed. I can keep fruit and veggies fresh for one or two weeks longer than I usually could, thanks to BluApple. Not only does this mean that we have less waste, but it also allows me to buy ahead when I find a great fruit and vegetable deal.
If you’d like more information on how the BluApple works, you can read the explanation here. Or, check out the Frequently Asked Questions here. You can also check out their Facebook Page.
It costs $9.95 to purchase the starter kit. The year supply refill kit is also $9.95. If you eat a lot of fruit and veggies and have trouble with them going bad before you can eat them, it may very well save you quite a bit more to invest in a BluApple. (You’ll want to do the math to determine whether or not it would actually save you enough money to merit paying for it.) If you do end up purchasing a BluApple and you find that it doesn’t live up to your expectations, they offer a money back guarantee.
To enter to win a free BluApple Starter Set plus a 12-month refill, just click on the graphic below and type in your name and email address. This giveaway ends Friday, September 16, at 11:59 pm, CST.

Sounds a lot like The EGG (Ethylene Gas Guardian)

I would love to have these! I just hate having to throw produce away, and I know my husband hates seeing it happen too. Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

Oooh that sounds fabulous! I used the Debbie Smith Green Bags for a while but got tired of having to clean them out. These sound like a much better solution!

It says it is available at some whole foods. If mine has it I can use yesterdays livingsocial deal to get it cheaper! We do tend to have produce go bad on us.

Ashlee,
That’s an awesome idea using yesterday’s Living Social deal! I have seen them in various places but haven’t checked Whole Foods they would probably have them in stock.

We purchased a set of the BluApples when Mamapedia had them on sale and I only had to pay $3 for shipping and handling. I wasn’t sure how well they would work, but figured it was worth trying them out. We’ve had ours since June and LOVE THEM!!!!
Two large drawers in our fridge have been stocked with fresh produce all summer from our family garden, fresh produce we’ve bought on clearance at our local grocery store and the produce we have received from our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Most of the items we have in the drawers last twice as long or longer! I can pick vegetables from our garden and plan on eating them over the next 2 to 3 weeks (sometimes more). I was not convinced it was worth it at first but after using them for a over 3 months I have to say I am impressed!
Sign up for Crystal’s Giveaway! 🙂 If you don’t win and like to have a large amount of fruits and vegetables on hand it is worth considering. Also, check the “deal” sites for a chance to get them at a reduced price. I was able to locate the refills at a local Farmers Market, although I haven’t had to change the ones in our fridge yet!

This is fantastic! Like you, I have been very skeptical to purchase anything that says it will make my fruits and vegetables store longer. Being vegan, my house is stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables. We plan our meals for two weeks, and by the second week, we are low on many vegetables that seem to go bad over night. Its frustrating because food gets wasted, I have to replan the menu, and rebudget. We have tried shopping the week of for vegetables, but I still have problems with foods such as summer squash and cucumbers lasting a week in the fridge. Its good to know this actually works. I’ll have to invest in some soon!
