I’m so excited about how many of you are joining us for the 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home Challenge! If you missed Monday’s assignment, you can find it here.
It was another full and eventful day here! The weather was beautiful, so the kids were able to play outside this afternoon — which was so nice after so many cold days the past few weeks! I even broke out the flip flops to celebrate the warm weather. 🙂
I also tried making whipped butter for the first time. I cannot believe I haven’t tried this until now. It’s a great way to stretch butter and made it easy to spread. I’ll share more details and pictures on how I made it later this week.
Oh how the car needed to be cleaned out! It didn’t look too awful at first glance, but the more I started cleaning, the more I realized how neglected it’s been recently!
Yikes! See that bowl peeking out? That’s a cereal bowl left in the car from Sunday morning on our way to church… because we’re so organized like that. Ahem.
I vacuumed and vacuumed and it seemed it was a never-ending job!
Not perfect — but so much better! See that tub? That’s our Emergency Box and it’s been one of the best things we’ve ever started keeping in the car. Comes in handy all the time!
How you do on Assignment #6? I’d love to have you share your progress and success with us so we can be inspired. Either post a link to your blog post below or leave a comment with your update.

I have an SUV, bc there is no defined “trunk”, I keep a clear rectagnular Sterilite under-bed box that’s almost the width (and 1/2 the length) of the back of the SUV. I put a large piece of strong gripped shelf liner underneath it (this keeps it from rolling around the back of the car while I’m driving). In the clear box I keep a stack of reusable grocery bags, a gallon Ziploc bag (with first aid items, a container of WetWipes & kleenix,), an umbrella, a sun hat, and an ER car kit (with jumper cables, flares, etc). I don’t keep meds in my car but I always have a divided pill box (that I got at the Dollar Store) in my purse filled with Tylenol, Advil, Tums, and any Rx meds needed for me or my kiddos. When my kids were babies/toddlers, I also kept a gallon Ziploc bag with a change of clothes & a couple of diapers “just in case”. Hope this helps. 🙂

I miss my clean car. But I am saving this challenge for later in the spring when the weather cooperates. Although we did get up to low 40s and see some melting, the snow is starting again tomorrow and we are heading back to the teens.
This has been a very long, cold winter! But since we can’t do anything about it we might as well enjoy it while it is here. 🙂

I’ve been making my whipped butter now for 4 years. It is very easy and so nice to have.

My car needed this….I didn’t have time for a full car detail but I did clean out the clutter and vacuumed the floor and seat around the kids car seats. I’m always amazed at what I find in there!

Way to go!!

I’m jealous of your warm weather. Although it was a bit warmer here yesterday than it has been for months and months, it still wasn’t warm enough to send the kids out to play for too long, or warm enough that I felt like spending the probably hours that it will take to get my van cleaned out outside. I might be saving this project until the very end of the challenge at this rate. It looks like more snow tomorrow and cold again for a while!

I have to have surgery every 6 months for the rest of my life. Several times on the way home from the hospital (a 2 hour drive) I have gotten sick. We now keep gallon size zip lock baggies and a box of Kleenex in the car for that. Works perfect, and I can zip it up after I’m done, to prevent spillage. We keep these 2 items in the glove box, so they are easy for me to grab.
We also have a 72 hour emergency bag in the back.

Yikes — surgery every six months? I am so sorry. 🙁

Awesome post! What I find most difficult is having space to hold a grocery caddy in my truck, storage for re-usable bags, and all of my other junk! Crystal, do you have any suggestions?
Crystal Paine says
I’d recommend thinking about what is really essential and only sticking with what you absolutely need in your trunk, if you’re short on space.

What do you keep in the emergency kit?

Well, I was really short on time yesterday so instead of a full van clean out, the kids and I set a 10 minute timer and cleaned clutter out of the van instead. I hope to vacuum today, but that remains to be seen. I love that my house is getting clean enough that a 15-minute clean-up really makes a difference. Now, to finish yesterday’s tasks and get today’s done too . . .

It looks like such a nice day at your house today. Our weather was warmer but still a little soggy to be outside much.
We keep an emergency kit in our car too. It’s nice to have a few items on hand just in case you need them.
