I’m so excited about how many of you are joining us for the 4 Weeks to a More Organized Home Challenge! If you missed today’s assignment, you can find it here.
Today was a good day, but it was a LONG day… lots of unexpected interruptions, lots of memory-making, lots of great discussions with friends and family, lots of productivity, lots of family time… and I. am. tired! But I promised you all I’d get this up tonight, so I’m putting off bedtime just a little bit to get this up. 🙂
I was so excited to realize that our commitment to regularly cleaning out underneath the beds and couches is paying off — because there wasn’t hardly anything under there!
That was a welcome relief from the last time I blogged about all the nastiness underneath our couches.
Silas had a blast helping me make pancakes tonight.
He helped put some of the batter on the griddle and then was so excited to tell me what each little pancake was… there was an elephant, a rocket, and many other interesting objects! His imagination always cracks me up!
Cleaning the bathroom always makes me happy… well, at least once it’s cleaned! 🙂
I cleaned out my closet and come up with a bag full of items to get rid of — yay!
How you do on Assignment #4? I’d love to have you share your progress and success with us so we can be inspired. Either post a link to your blog post below or leave a comment with your update.
I’ve been a little behind. We live at my mother in laws and we only have 2 rooms to ourselves. We have one little cabinet for food, half of the fridge, and a little tiny part of the freezer =(. I’ll catch up tho, and I can always go clean my mess in my room at my dads house =)
Even if you can just do a little bit, that’s better than nothing at all! So glad you’re joining us for this!
I’m a bit behind due to work schedule but love setting the timer for 15 minutes you can get so much done.
Awesome tips! As I have been cleaning each area out, I’ve placed them in reusable bags to have taken to various non-profit groups, for in my state we can donate locally up to a certain amount as a tax write-off, here’s its $400.00, and this includes stockpile couponed items. What cannot be donated this way, I’m turning into smaller grab-bags and placing them on Freecycle.org so that the items can stay out of landfills; I mark them as craft room grab-bag, or toy grab-bag, or the like. I like to think I’m turning my clutter into a blessing for others. Thank you for your tips!
I was running around all day yesterday so the challenge did not get completed here. Oh, well, today is another day.
I’m behind already!! Ahhh…. I just returned to work this week after my maternity leave, so I’m working on adjusting back to being a working mom of an infant. I also have two older children. I want to get my house done, too!!! Trying to give myself grace…. I’ll figure it out. But I love this challenge and will do what I can!
BTW, did you comment on Sarah’s Key yet?:)
I didn’t get under our couch yesterday because I need a 2nd set of arms to move it, but I did decide to get under my computer table. Oddly enough, even though it is ON WHEELS, I had never thought to just pull it forward to clean under it. Literally, years of nastiness and dust were found and thrown out. Yay! I have 3 bathrooms and decided to see what I could accomplish in the 15 minutes. I wiped down all 3 sinks, all 3 toilets, and 2 of the showers before the timer went (and then finished the last tub). I had no idea I could get all that done in 15 minutes. For my getting rid of: I found more clothing, some old computer parts, and some expired medication. (I also found lots of pretty much empty hair care products and deodorants that I was apparently trying to collect 😉 )
I just have to say, I’ve been reading MSM for years and I can’t believe how much your kids have grown. I love how Silas always looks so happy to be in the kitchen with you! You can see it on his face how special that time is to him. It is just too sweet!
Crystal, I’ve noticed that too. The photos you’ve posted over the years of your adorable son helping you cook — just precious! It’s so easy to shoo children out of the kitchen because they slow you down, make messes, and get in the way. Good for you for nurturing this interest of his.
I must say, though, you are awfully brave to have your laptop there on the counter so very close to the child and the pancake batter. 🙂
He LOVES to help me… and sometimes I have to struggle with my get-things-done attitude and just remind myself that making memories is so worth the time and mess it often makes. 🙂
I’m pretty good about getting under the furniture, except the behemoth. We have a 30 year-old sleeper sofa that weighs half a ton. No one really uses it except when we have overnight guests, so I usually just ignore it. Well, I moved it today and found:
1. A chip clip
2. A tablet stylus
3. A board game piece
4. An outlet cover
and…
5. A piping bag tip.
I have absolutely no idea how that last one got there. At least it’s clean under there now. 🙂
I was thankful that our bathroom was already clean since cleaning under the beds was so bad. I clean under them twice a year but I might need to rethink that plan and up it to more regularly. I found lots of dust bunnies, but they all have moved on to a new home now.
I packed the last two days into one because I *oops napped until it was time to go to work. Thanks for making these manageable tasks!
Hi did you freeze your extra pancakes??I tried doing that to ours sunday but they seemed pretty stale after reheating. Any trick?
I`m catching up ion the five days tomorrow then will follow along all month. Need a deep clean big time 🙂
I pop ours in the toaster to warm.
