21 Days to a Simple Christmas: Day 17 {Update}

Join the 21 Days to a Simple Christmas Challenge

It’s Day 17 of the 21 Days to a Simple Christmas Challenge!

Today, we whipped our homes into shape to prepare for the busy few days ahead. Here’s a little peek into the cleaning we did…

21 Days to a Simple Christmas

I printed out the cleaning plan to cross off as we finished things.

The basket of miscellaneous items from around the house. There were some interesting things we rounded up… some that ended up going straight into the trash and recycling bins.

Lastly, we tackled the laundry pile. It wasn’t too enormous and Kathrynne helped me so we got it done in record time.

And then I lit this favorite candle of mine to celebrate the clean house. 🙂

Did you do any Christmas cleaning today? If so, tell us about it in the comments or share the link to your blog post (if you’re blogging about the challenge).

    Today I steam cleaned our bedroom carpet, cleaned the toilets, unloaded the dishwasher and went through a pile of paper clutter that was building up. I even cleaned the trash from the back seat of my car while I was filling up. I would have gotten more done but I was building a shadow box as a Christmas present.

  • I cleaned the large raised bed in the garden: I cut back asparagus, pruned grape vines, and pulled dead basil from the garden (we just had our first frost two weeks ago). I also deadheaded the roses that froze.

    I made 4 loaves of French bread, a pot of soup, washed and dried three loads of laundry (I’ll turn on another tonight), did dishes and worked some more on making Christmas stockings.

      Sounds so nice to work on a raised bed! We’re covered in snow here! I’ve been doing a lot of cooking and laundry like you!! This is such a fun time of year!

    I followed the 2hr cleaning list and finally got most things put away! I also was able to clean up multiple piles that I have been “meaning” to get to for longer than I would like to admit! I also dusted things that beyond grose. And finished 3 loads of laundry. I will have to do the 2hr cleaning again before Christmas to finish but this was a great start and reminder. Thank you!

    This was a good push for me to do things today. But honestly this cleaning can not be done in 2 hours. Maybe 4 hours is more realistic. After 2 hours, I didn’t even get half of the list done, and I was running like crazy. I was a great motivator the!

    I did a ton of cleaning yesterday, but I didn’t think to take pictures. I think I’ll do that today! I’ve been cooking a lot and that makes its own mess! Today I need to clean my fridge, organize my pantry, and clean my porch. Maybe I can get my kids to help me?! Yesterday they cleaned and sorted all of the little things they found under their beds (legos, hair stuff, rubber bands, socks etc.!)

    I had my 16 month old grandson visiting me today, along with our daughter, so cleaning could wait. Little Bit will only be little for so long. 🙂 Everything is really pretty much clean. I will go over all the bathrooms Saturday morning before our kids start arriving from out of state along with more little ones to cuddle.

    I was not nearly as productive as some of you, although I did box up some yard sale stuff, and de-clutter my craft supplies yesterday. It felt great to move some stuff out of the house. I just put the baby down for a nap and I plan to accomplish as much of this list as I can before he wakes up!

    Off topic- What type of laundry hamper do you use, if any? We are a family of 6 and my husband and kids will throw their clothes on the floor in our laundry room even though we have a laundry hamper. I’m thinking about getting rid of it and just using the floor instead. 🙂
