Jesse and I spent time really discussing what my focuses should be for 2014 and we nailed down four areas that are my priorities for this year:
- Marriage: to continue to invest time and energy to strengthen and nurture our marriage and make it one of the greatest priorities
- Mothering: to continue to invest in our children with the goal of teaching them character, life skills, and raising them to be responsible adults
- Myself: to make my health a priority and to invest in my personal growth as a Christian, business owner, writer, speaker, and leader
- MoneySavingMom.com: to invest time into blogging — not just overseeing the business and my team, but making writing content pieces one of my top blogging priorities
Having these specific areas determined at the beginning of the year is really helping me to prioritize and giving me much clearer direction on when, where, and what to say no to this year.
Here’s my progress for my 12 goals for 2014:
Marriage Goals
1. Read 6 marriage books. (I’ve finished one marriage book so far.)
2. Write 50 love notes to Jesse. (I’ve written 8 love notes so far.)
Mothering Goals
3. Read 40 books aloud to the kids. (We’ve finished two books so far and are almost finished with another.)
4. Finish memorizing Romans 1 together. (We’ve been working on this!)
5. Go through a cooking course with the kids.
Personal Goals
6. Read through the Bible. (I’m on track with this.)
7. Memorize Romans 2.
8. Run a 5K race and go through P90X again. (I’m working through P90X.)
9. Read 150 books/ebooks. (I’ve read 21 books so far this year.)
Blogging Goals
10. Write 150 substantive content pieces for the blog. (I’ve written 34 substantive content pieces so far this year.)
11. Write 50 DIY/Recipe posts for the blog. (I’ve written eight DIY/Recipe post so far.)
12. Blog about/participate in the 12 Months to a Healthier You Challenge (I finished February’s challenge.)

We have started reading the Bible with our son. I am really enjoying spending that time with him, helping him learn how to devote his life to God. He is 4 so I am not sure how much he really understands, but I still feel it is really important.
Thanks for this post!!! 🙂

This is my first year having set goals. I’m still baby-stepping here, but I met most of my blogging goals, I’m on track with my reading goals (12 non-fiction in the year, 12 read-alouds to the kids), and I’m realizing that I didn’t write SMART enough goals for some of the others. Still, I’m learning. I think I’m going to re-write my goals in a more measurable way.

Hello all:
Here are my goals and my progress!
Personal:
~Lose weight (lost 8 pounds in January!) by working out at least 3x/weekly and eating veg and fruit
~Be more connected with my hubby (we have been playing weekly games of Monopoly and Battleship…no TV on :))
~Spend time praying (I’m a mover…so I found good prayer time on the treadmill!)
~Start and keep spending plan (January and February did very well and paid off a credit card!); did taxes on time!
Professional:
~Finish dissertation, defend, graduate (just petitioned to defend!)
~Start blog; blog at least 2x weekly and not just about business stuff; about life, about human interactions too (my specialty) to help people live not just survive.
~Build FB/Twitter/Blog and become a place of rest and fun for my friends and clients 🙂

I have noticed that you are participating more with blogging and not just overseeing. I see this through your interaction with your readers. Glad you are able to accomplish this goal:) I read your blog daily!!!!!!!!

Feels good to be really intentional. It’s encouraging to see others plans working. I came across your website through Good Morning Girls and Peak Fitness 313, Peak Fitness 313 is where it really all began. Trying to take back my life from fatigue, exhaustion and pain. Peak Fitness 313 did a Vision board for 2014, which was a first for me, but I absolutely love it! It helps me remember to stay focused and balanced and tend myself better. My progress has be steady and slow, which is good for me since I usually over commit myself and don’t finish well and refreshed. God has brought me to a doctor that is truely committed to helping me get better. I am very thankful for all of ya’ll. I am doing GMG Bible study and Prayer Journal and absolutely love it. i am using lots of your posted savings and have loved it, feels like a close friend tipping me to some great deals. All of ya’ll are such an important asset to my life. Thank you!!

My 2014 goals were personal and financial. We hit our financial goals of having x amt in savings and buying a used second vehicle for our family.
My focus on health for this year is going well. I have figured out and avoided what causes major tummy issues and daily headaches. I have joined a gym a have gone faithfully for 2 weeks. 🙂

Great job! I am ahead on my reading goal. 1 scripture behind on my memorizing a scripture a month goal. I have gone on a 4 to 5 hour date with my hubby each month so far (we are king and queen of mini dates, but long dates just bring out amazing conversations) and we have an overnight planned for March so my marriage goals are on target. Not doing so well with the losing 10 pounds though, but I hope that will improve when the weather gets better and I am outside moving more. Thanks for always challenging us to set and go for goals.

One of my goals for this month is to begin Bible study/devotions/verses with my boys. I have no idea where to start or what is age-appropriate for them (7 and 5)! Have you wrote any posts on this subject or can point me to what you use? Thank you!!! 🙂
Crystal Paine says
We love the Jesus Storybook Bible and the red Character books by Rick and Marilyn Boyer.

Where do I find the red character books at? I looked at amazon and did not find any books by Rick and Marilyn Boyer.
